I understand how u feel. 4 years since i saw this Movie & I Thought i would have excelled in my passion of Acting by now & also revel in all its fringe benefits. But my ship never came in, just the billions of dejected people on daily basis. Life is unfair.

Dean really stole the movie with his acting. I was particularly impressed how he was able to play the older Jett Rink with his heavy drinking, frustrations and regrets. Dean was so talented and charismatic and he had the eyes of an old soul. Poor boy gone way too soon, RIP, Jimmy Dean.

The first time I ever saw this scene was when I was a kid. It was a Saturday, and I think we were cleaning or just hanging around the house. My parents had the tv on for ambience and Giant was on. I didn't really watch it since I had such a short attention span and the movie isn't exactly the most entertaining. However, anytime a James Dean scene would come on it would take my attention.I would stop what I was doing and be glued to the tv. I held on to his every word and watched his scenes with anticipation of what he would do next. This scene in particular is memorable and I must say is one of my favorites of any movie. Not only because Dean steals the spotlight, but also because he was able to tell the entire story of Giant with his acting alone.

@@condundropI don’t think it’s overacting, he’s fleshing out a real human being in a way that his costars can’t yet tap into because of their inability (cultural and personal) to disconnect from their own images. Dean was endlessly shifting around his surfaces so the vivid complexity of his core more fluidly came out in his characters.

James Dean was creatively brilliant in this scene! His presence fills up the whole screen. Oh my God Elizabeth Taylor was so hauntingly beautiful I mean absolutely breathtaking beauty. Back to Dean go majestic talent. I mean acting as that professional artistic level and he was only 24 years old. He was still a child if you will. Can you imagine what type of artistic work he would of shared with the world when he reached 34 years old more or less greatly seasoned great artist by then. I mean he acted with so much artistic depth at the young age of 24 years old. I mean he had such a great depth of soul again to be so young and such instinctual swag and that is something U can't just teach it has to be a part of the persons D.N.A I mean the way he walks toward Elizabeth and how he used his body as hell put his hand on the wooden beam as he spoke to Ms.Taylor and how he picked himself up with out the use of his hands as he was getting up after being knocked down. I mean everything he did was so soulfully in the moment just mesmerising. I say God why just why did he have to leave the planet and go to you lord so young. He could have brought so much love and joy to this world with his great artistic acting talent. I salute you and say God bless you Jimmy Dean for bringing so much joy and love to the world the short time that you was with us Sir James Dean one of the greatest acting artist who ever walked the planet Earth. Adieu Mr.James Dean!!!!!

@@خالدعبدالعزيز-ش1د After striking oil, James Dean (as Jett Rink) drives up in his truck, he jumps out...Rock Hudson (as Bick Benedict) says, "Hello Jett, what do you want?" Jett replies, "My well came in (or "my welcoming, Bick" (he laughs loudly). Bick says, "Fine." Elizabeth Taylor (as Leslie Benedict) says, "That's wonderful Jett." Jett says, "Everybody thought i had a duster? (meaning everyone thought he wouldn't strike oil on his small piece of land), Y'all thought ol' Spindletop Burke and Burnett was all the oil there was, didn't ya? Well, I'm here to tell you that it ain't, boy! It's here, and there ain't a dang thing you gonna do about it! My well came in big so big Bick, an there's more down there, and bigger wells...I'm rich Bick...(he laughs)...I'm a rich 'un. I'm a rich boy. Me...I'm gonna have more money than you ever THOUGHT you could have! You and all the rest of you stinking sons of Benedicts." Bick says, "Leslie, you go on in the house. Take the women with you." Leslie says, "Jett, we're real glad you struck it. Now you go on along home." Jett moves towards her and says, "Oh my, you sure do look pretty Miss Leslie. You always did look pretty (he leans on the post) Pretty nigh good enough to eat." Bick grabs him and hits him. Jett falls. The men pull Bick back saying "Wait a minute, take it easy, take it easy." Jett gets up and moves towards Bick and says, "My you're touchy Bick, touchy as an old cook." Then Jett punches Bick and runs off and drives away. Then the man with the drink says, "Bick, you shoulda shot that fella a long time ago. Now he's too rich to kill." ....I hope that helps. Some of the words, the way they are said are more in a Texas dialect. For example "fella" would actually be the word fellow, but the regional dialect makes it sound like fella. Anyway, I hope this helped. It's a wonderful scene and he was a brilliant actor. I'm happy to help it be appreciated.

James Dean role in this scene is so telling in his personality. His boldness to proclaim he is gotta be a rich person, and there's nothing they could do to stop it. His full macho and disrespectful flirt with Elizabeth Taylor is also just big balls, man talk. He got his punch in and drove off feeling completely satisfied. He got his moment there to stand up to people who doubted him and looked down at him. I have always wanted to say those words to people who always were snobs and people who look at people with disgust of their lack of money or status. I was born after James Dean died, but his memory of him when I was growing up was like that of Babe Ruth. A larger that life legend that always said he was the coolest dude around .

1955: What a year. So long ago. The world has since been feverish. James Dean - an icon. But what does it mean to die at 24 while your great love lives on? No time. Always searching for her. You are reborn and have only one name in your head: Elizabeth. And you don’t know why? You find women who look like her, but you can’t explain it to yourself. James Dean - he was always an alien, an outcast - all the fame doesn’t mean anything if you have no home. Good night, Little Reata, good night, America, good night, Elizabeth. Now you live, and you are dead. What kind of crap is that, really? But one day we will see each other again. Then I won't have to pee in front of people to keep my nerves in check before our encounter.

I know most would consider Giant a leading role for Dean (and he was nominated for an Oscar in that category for it) but really it's a supporting one behind Hudson and Taylor. Still though, the brilliance and power of his screen presence and acting was simply that he stole every single scene in this film; doing so with two of the greatest actors in history sharing the movie with him.

A true giant and the three roles he created are just as contemporary now as they were back then. He may have left us before rock n roll was properly born but gave it its t,shirt leather jacket and jeans and helped to pave the way for everything that was to follow

I’m convinced Luz left that land to Jett knowing full well what is gurgling underneath. The last revenge against Bick for replacing her as lady of the house. Dean is brilliant here.

James Dean was on a path that would have led him to greatness. He would have become a legend equal to movie greats as Kirk Douglas, Jimmy Stewart, Cary Grant and John Wayne, just to name a few. James Dean's tragic death by a car accident is so sad. He died too young and death stole this talented awesome actor from us. Giant, is a movie that proves James Dean was one of Movie's greatest actors. This scene is a brillant example of the greatness and talent James Dean Possesed. RIP Mr. Dean.
