Wow. I grew up in NYC, but I had cousins who lived in Belgium and France during the 1980s. I was so shocked when they came to visit during Christmas in 1984 and they already knew about Breakdancing!! My breakdancing moves were not as good so we actually taught each other some moves! We broke two lamps and some furniture practicing in my mothers apartment all the holiday week!! We exchanged clothes and I was the first person in my school to wear Kappa brand! The next winter I went to France to visit them. Long lost Memories. They are all living in Miami and Chicago now.

I will never forget these times when I was 12 and had friends who used to dance in crews. I had a particular friend who tried very hard, he was overweight and I remember they decided to do a dance-off at a house and my friend did the helicopter. As he dived onto the floor, the floor gave way and unfortunately, it took him with him. We had a huge laugh and also won the dance-off. He has sadly passed away since then but we will never forget the good times
