We'd wear spandex shorts and cutoff tank tops, Ellise shoes, big clunky earrings and red lipstick. I lived in West Germany back in 1989 when I listened to this while the U.S Army Brings back my youth. It hurts my spirit inside music will not be made like this again. The late 1980's early 1990's is my favorite musical era...and I'm mainly a Rock fan. I love this song.

The song I wish that more people heard was her response to "This is a Mans World" on her album Man. She would take inspiration and have a purpose for it rather than just "sounds neat". I love that she was touring with Lenny Kravitz and then performing Buddy X which is like "you think im going to stay quiet with your cheating?"

Thats a simple but sweet guitar synth. Though you have funk genre era of the 70s to thank, late 80s and early 90s pop used the guitar synth religiously and took it to a level we still haven't surpassed even with the technology we have now. You got Milli vanilli, Fine young canibals etc. Some producers of the late 90's early 2000 such as Pretty Tony were some of the last acts.
