JMYS Trawler Skills - Windlass Operation

In this video, Jeff demonstrates some of the important details to consider and demonstrates some key features of a vertical windlass aboard a Nordhavn 57.
Anchors are heavy and chain rode can be difficult to manage. Your windlass is a powerful piece of machinery that can greatly assist you in setting and retrieving your anchor.
Whether your windlass is a horizontal or vertical configuration, most of the same principles apply and safe operating of this type of machinery requires your full attention and understanding.

Hi Albert, thank you. This video is a fairly broad overview of windlass operations. Douglas Cochrane, who set up the "extras" on the Nordhavn 57, deserves the credit for giving me some wonderful features to show other trawler owners. You can learn a lot from experienced trawler owners - Douglas is a very thoughtful and safety minded. W we have collaborated on a series of docking videos to help illustrate some helpful techniques.

Just telling it as I see it Jeff. What other brokers are offering these type of videos to the public? I know of no others. Your the type of person I would buy my boat from. Plus you know Nordhavns. .

Hi Steve, that is a very nice compliment, thank you. I'm fortunate to have a career that "requires" me to be on boats and hang out with cool people - a great gig! If I can help out by sharing some of what I know that's just part of the deal. If you are going to help a client buy a wonderful trawler like a Nordhavn, it certainly adds more value to the buyer if you can demonstrate the operations of equipment and get them up to speed so they can enjoy it!
