MK7 Golf R Facelift Resonator Delete (NAS)

This is a DIY video of my Resonator Delete work done on my Mk7.5 Golf R (NA Spec). This kit is the OEM Audi S3 Resonator Delete. I purchase it as a slightly used product locally. The kit also came with a 70mm and 65mm band clamps.
Tools Required:
Exhaust pipe cutter
13 mm wrench
Hanger pliers

Put some wd40 on the rubber hangers when taking it out.... helps a lot!!!!

I need to do mine this week. Did you get the pipe cutter at Canadian Tire? They had one at Deerfoot City but wasn't sure if it would fit stainless.

Sarkis Aznavuryan in our area we do not have such restrictions. It all depends on where you are and what your local enforcement/regulation is.

Nice job brother. Since you are adapting the exhaust on a regular basis ;-), it's worthwhile to get a special pliers to remove the hangers from the rubbers. It's so much easier than manhandling it with a normal pliers. Small tip that only VW insiders (or old timers like me) know, VW puts those little indentations at the location where the pipe needs to be cut. There are 3 sets, the middle set is where to cut. VW has done this for decades on their exhausts, applies to any VAG model. So no need to measure and mark it, of course for peace of mind you also can :-)

I have a 2018 1.8t golf s, can I just get any mk7 catback and worry about a downpipe later or do I have to get a certain catback?

Sorry for the late reply! I believe based on the year of your car, you have the facelift version?! If so, I would suggest you getting the Facelift GTI full turbo back exhaust and diffuser and go from there. You can also do an after market if money is not a problem. Hope this will help!

Did mine today at an exhaust shop, $80 nice addition. It’s not loud still just a little more presence I’d say. Launch control sounds better. I have the flapper mod done with VCDS so the flap is open regardless of what mod I’m on.

Thanks for the video. I have been told that res deletes aren't good for the car/engine in the long-run, as it messes with the car sensors and the exhaust fumes coming from the engine... is this true? I was keen on getting one installed before I was told this!

That is the first time I heard of this claim, and I have known many guys that have done it. I don’t think Audi would offer it as an S3 OEM part if it causes such longterm effect. I am more cautious in doing catless or cat delete than this given it does affect the emission sensor.

I did resonator & muffler delete on my Audi A4 B9 with stage 2 ECU/DSG Tune… i had the car nearly 5yrs i did not have any issues only one issue water pump replacement from premature failure :) other than that Audi/VW most owners do get their resonator deleted and never heard of anyone had any issues with fume or sensors 😂

Not at all! At least from my experience I find these MQB platform very subtle in terms of doing these kind of mods on the stock pipes. I even did a straight CBE on my MK7 Golf and didn’t dint it horrible at all.

Besides, this mod if you do it the way I have done it, it is easily reversible
