I've had three. At 12 years old and 1975 my dad brought home my first 1968 850 spider. Said kid you want to pay for the car or do you want to pay for the parts. Told him I'd pay for both and he said that ain't what I asked you kid now I'm going to ask one more time choose wisely. That was my dad. So I paid for the car $650. He paid for all the parts and over the course of a year I had taken out and labeled every single screw cable lever glass and seals bearings everything cleaned categorized labeled and reassembled by me with instruction from him. Now that's the way to teach a kid how to love an automobile. And I love him greatly for this wisdom handed down from father to son and perhaps Sunday God willing I will have the opportunity to do this with my children.

I had one of these 850 spiders back in the day. Most fun street usable car I ever had. I loved that I could use the whole engine on the street; run it up to redline, etc, without getting a ticket. I love yours even more. Looks like great fun

After watching your vids and had a Miata in the past and a MG midget , it just seems why didn’t the manufacturers do this originally this upgrade is the adrenaline rush that every enthusiast ever wanted, I’ve dreamed about doing it but I don’t have the room or tools or budget , but it’s been a hell of a lot of fun watching you do it ,

love your project. i know the feeling when you put an upgrade motor into nice handling car, a 1300 motor into a Honda 360 mid engine mount. such fun to drive.

Love the 850! In college I worked for a Fiat mechanic who refused to work on 850's because every time one was in the shop for simple work something else would always break. Looks like you are replacing all the weak Fiat bits. I also grew up down the hill from you at Torrance Beach and learned never to speed in PV!

Cool. My next door neighbor had a GSXR that was equipped with an air actuated clutch and shifter. He could shift up or down at the push of a button. You could get paddles on the steering column. It requires a tiny air compressor, and a small air tank. He had nitrous injection, too.

Amazing. This kind of creativity and ingenuity really inspires! I bet that balance and weight distribution on it is incredible. One thing you could consider for the heat blocking for the header is two separate layers with a little bit of air space between them. I think that would do better than one beefy heat blocking layer.

With the cone/ram of the flaring tool centered in the die/tube, rotate the ram part of the tool until its arms contact the tube clamping part. Holding it in that position, while tightening the ram, keeps it centered in the die/tube, resulting in a nice flare, and in not breaking the die. Don't ask me how many bad flares and broken dies are behind me - too many.

Jared - amazing indeed! Way better than the unit that inspired you to build this FIAT - you have great solutions and looks. Three thumbs up for the way you implemented the shifter, the clutch and the reverse -- that other shifter with the hand operated clutch and gear change just doesn't look good in a car. I'd only say that GIPro gear indicators can be unreliable - I've got one on my Honda, and it broke down after three years.

Way to go Jared! I haven't seen your channel for a while but i did see a couple of your build videos on the Fiat. Are the gear ratios from the motorcycle good for your car? How does it accelerate and what do you think is the top speed? What about cornering and handling? Lots of questions! BTW, are you going to attend the Porsche 356 Registry's West Coast Holiday in Paso Robles this September? Hope to see you and your 356 there! - Dan from NorCal
@Jerod_Helt
@Jerod_Helt 2 жыл бұрын
Yes I will be at the WCH in Paso Robles with the 356. Look forward to meeting you. On the Fiat the gear ratio is much different now due to the diff and the chain drive. Not sure on the top speed yet, handling is good now and should be even better once the suspension is set up properly.
