Super cool, for me though I think I would have ran the shift cable around where 1rst was forward & the rest pulling back.. personal preference I guess..lol but absolutely awesome nonetheless!!

Amazing. This kind of creativity and ingenuity really inspires! I bet that balance and weight distribution on it is incredible. One thing you could consider for the heat blocking for the header is two separate layers with a little bit of air space between them. I think that would do better than one beefy heat blocking layer.

Are you going to use the rear engine mount? It looks to me like you're putting an awful lot of leverage on the two front engine mounts by not using that rear mount; consider that there is a lot of weigh in the back of the bike powerplant, where the transmission is, and it wasn't designed to have that weight hanging only from the front mounts. Maybe it'll be fine, I don't know. But maybe you'll hit a bump in the road and crack the thin + lightweight aluminium engine casings, dump all the oil onto the exhaust and rear wheels, destroy the motor and start a significant oil fire.

I have to change the mounts on the front end of the transmission, any footage of that in your videos? Any tips?

Just saw the last part 😂. So i guess i do have to disconnect the shift rod or can it be done without doing that?
@Jerod_Helt6 күн бұрын
Disconnecting the shift rod is easy. Be sure the spacing (shims) are correct when you install the new mounts. If they’re not the rear will toe in or out which is not a good feeling when driving the car.
@ToughShiftGarage6 күн бұрын
@@Jerod_HeltI didnt even know about the mount shims!! Thanks!! I guess i should remove the entire transaxle and give it a good cleaning etc while im at it. the engine is already out and disassembled so i guess i will do that. Im going to tackle the engine rebuild myself as soon as i get the case back from the machine shop. I had to get the dowel pin hole enlarged for the larger dowel. Cant wait to get started. Hope you wont mind a ton of questions, lol, although with these videos i should be good. Thanks again for your help and for responding quickly!!

The start of a Model T and a Model A is the best sound ever!
@KenFullman29 күн бұрын
I've seen probably thousands of VW Beetles in my time yet I've never seen a single Model T. The fact that I'm in the UK might have something to do with that. In fact, I didn't even know what a model T looked like, until today. I'd heard the name but had never clapped eyes on one. But, due to this series, I now know the model T inside out. I just watched the entire playlist from the begining. So glad you've made something back from it and it's now three years on. I'm hoping you may have even made your money back on the car. It really did surprise me how little value the model T has. Especially since I've still never seen one in the flesh. So it's only natural that I'd have thought they're quite rare.
@jeff-wisconsin8365Ай бұрын
Wow! I wish I had found this three years ago! Great clip, thanks much!
@KenFullmanАй бұрын
It probably doesn't matter but you can tell those wheels are way out of balance. Simply by the way they're inclined to rock backwards and forwards. Doubt it'll make much difference to the driving experience given the low speeds involved. Great informative content though.
@Jerod_Helt29 күн бұрын
Yeah, unbalanced and bent… it doesn’t seem to matter at such low speeds

This is, by far, the best explanation on how to use those controls that I've come across. I found this fascinating.
@mrjed6912Ай бұрын
Something I really need to ask about is how do you stop in an emergency? The American roads give a much clearer view than what you would find in the UK. Loads of parked cars on narrow roads here. Would I just grab the handbrake and lock the rear tires?
@Jerod_HeltАй бұрын
The old timers say in an emergency just hit ALL the pedals… the reality is you’re not usually going over 20 MPH so stopping isn’t really that big of an issue. What is an issue is holding up traffic because you’re driving so slow. I think that’s why you don’t see them on the road very often.
@mrjed6912Ай бұрын
@@Jerod_HeltThanks very much. I was once told to press reverse and the brake at once.

I have ALWAYS half a hole in my soul for missing that opportunity.
