@@jniamtuiii Hello doctor. I had a facelift 4 years ago (periosteal detachment of the maxilla with rugin to the infraorbital rim with anchoring of the tissues with resorbable threads). The surgeon pulled too much I think on the tissues, muscles and skin, now I have a joker smile and my cheeks and cheekbones are very short and deformed. The lips go up too much as well as the tissues. Is there a solution to loosen the face, remove the pulls and prevent my lips and cheeks from rising too high and crushing the rest of the face when I smile? Thanks

@@jamiegreer2514 Hi Jamie. I just passed the 6 month mark & I’d like to reassure you. I had a few things going on that were concerning to me. But like my doctor told me, we just cut through skin, muscles, & nerves! You’ve got to give everything a chance to heal. I think for some people it doesn’t take very long to heal and for others, it takes a little more time. I’m a bit older so I fell into that latter category but I can tell you, now, at the six-month point, I am extremely happy with my results. I am SO glad I did it. No more saggy neck, no more horrible bags under my eyes, no more saggy eyelids. And I still look very natural. I will admit I felt like I pestered my doctor quite a bit but she was always very kind and reassuring. She also would have me come into the office so that she could see what was going on and make sure everything was OK. I was very appreciative of her patience with me. So whether you are a slow healer or a fast healer, you are only at 3 days. I wish you good luck although I am sure it’s going to turnout great!

Thank you for making this video. Great info. One thing I might add is that docs should prepare patients mentally ahead of time for the compression garment if they plan to place one on them. I flat out panicked when I woke up and felt like a deaf, swollen human Q-tip. I was so claustrophobic, could not hear or see well because of the eye ointment and the bandages covering my head. The pressure on my ears and forehead was excruciating. The following day a less comprehensive and removable version was placed but that first 24 hours was a living hell. It was a 24 hour straight panic attack. I am at day 7 of recovery now and feeling much better but that was more than discomfort. For me, it was terrifying.

I had a compression bandage and drains for four days and this was like a living Hell. No sleep for those days made it all worse! I was not prepared for that at all. The small one they later give you to wear 24/7 is also uncomfortable especially for sleep. Some improvement should be made with these bandages to make it more tolerable. I am still only sleeping 3-4 hrs at night because of swelling. It is day 8 for me after face and neck lift. My left upper lip has problems and when I eat and talk I look like a stroke victim. The staff says, "oh that's normal" it will improve. I pray that is true. Also one of my eyes will not close all the way after upper lid bleph. This is all kind of scary. I pray these things resolve soon. I wish I had gone to Dr. Joe in Virginia. He has such great bedside manner!

I took pain meds for the first 4 days, after that I could put up with the discomfort, but it really wasn’t that bad at all. I got yellow under my eyes and purple around my lower lip, but only lasted a few days. After two weeks I was feeling and looking like a million dollars 🤩🙏🏼.! The face kinda relaxed a little bit, but I knew that from the beginning. I loved feeling the tightness on my cheeks during the first two weeks, now it just feels normal again, only some numbness on my ears, otherwise everything is great! I had a neck lift 5 months ago and your videos are helping me a lot because I'm very concerned at this time. I bled and next morning they had to do something again in the surgery room bellow one of my ears on the side my eye was completely closed and bruised. This side is way much better now, but the other side is giving me a hard time, because of hematoma first and seroma later. A couple times the doctor used a syringe with a needle tu pull some yellow fluid, but he told me to use warm compresses for this to disappear and to massage the area. I'm doing both, every single day. Today, 5 months after my surgery, this side of my neck has multiple bumps but they are very hard and my neck is very stiff. My ear on this side is numbed from the top to the middle, but the earlobe is painful an additional was pushed to the front of my face when it was rearranged. My jowls are sagging again, too. It seems like that area was not addressed at all. The inflammation behind my ear is there and honestly I don't know if I need more time for the total recovery due to the trauma; that's why I'm waiting to see if I make some improvements, before calling the doctor. Could you, dear doctor offer your recommendations? I will appreciate your words! Thank you!

Thank You for this information. What still confuses me, is the method using the incision around the ear, vs what is called the ponytail lift but doesn't use that method to make incisions so there is less scarring. But, is it as effective?
@jniamtuiii4 жыл бұрын
I think the ponytail lift is marketing hype. A real facelift is called a "facelift" :)
@HeidiK74 жыл бұрын
@@jniamtuiii I agree, but that Dr uses small incisions, so you don't have that large incision around the ear. I am just not sure how you can access the muscle properly without that? It's a big decision and I am trying to do my homework. I have a Dr here in Los Angeles that I will probably have the Deep Plane done by, but making sure I am doing the right procedure.

Dr. Niamtu I hope you see my message. I had facelift surgery, however, I am seven weeks out and and I see a small hanging area on my platysma. It was worse, but I didn’t expect to still have any at all after surgery. Am I going to have to have a revision? I don’t like it at all. My ears also hurt a lot. I cannot lay on my pillow on my back because they hurt as if they were really cold. Thank you

How long will you need your caregiver before the patient can do their own aftercare?

Most faceift patients use a caregiver for the first several days.
@donnamyers20255 жыл бұрын
Why would you need a caregiver ?
@mrsjones40255 жыл бұрын
@@donnamyers2025 Lol, that's what I said. My Doctor suggests you keep everything on your body from chest up as a solid unit, like a robot. You cannot bend over, reach, push, pull or lift anything or even turn your head till doctor says. Maybe 2 weeks, maybe more. You will have restrictions on your activities and if you have your eyes done, probably won't be able to open them for a few days. You will need someone to get you ice packs and water and food and medicine. You will probably be medicated and will have post operative instructions you won't even care about reading because of the anesthesia and drugs. You won't be able to use reading glasses at first, so you won't even be able to read your medicine bottles or instructions. Everything has to be sanitized to keep off infection. It's hard to drink and eat because your throat may be sore from the intubation and your muscles and skin are pulled tight and stitched up so you wont be able to open your mouth or chew like normal. You won't be used to not being able to use your neck and you'll have a hard time finding things. You'll need help walking to and from the bathroom at first. Like the video said if you are young and have a little work done, light recovery. But face it, most people that facelift are not young and even a half face lift is a big, big job.

What do you think about adding platelets from PRP into the surgical would to reduce bruising and swelling?
@jniamtuiii4 жыл бұрын
People do a lot of different things with supplements, topical and other treatments to improve swelling and bruising. I don't think there is much evidenced based literature to support it but sometimes it helps. I have sued PRP and did not see much difference. Thanks for watching.

Day 14 here and l went through all the symptoms this video mentioned , such as bruise, swelling, numbness, stiffness etc and most of them are diminishing … but one thing is bothering me , that’s the bumps I have on my right side of the face, the first couple days I can only feel them when I touch them with hand, now that the overall swelling of the face is diminishing, and I can actually see those bumps now… I am not quite sure if those bumps are getting better from day one to now… but is doctor Joe said it’s ok to have some bumps after facelift surgery, then I will stay put and let nature mother does her job… keep my fingers crossed… thanks for the great video, Dr. Joe.
