the bitter truth is that we have no friends among the powers that be. our only friends are some of the ordinary people in some countries. that’s it. the rest are enemies of various levels and types of animocity. I thought we have at least Trump, but now, apparently, Trump pushed this disastrous deal down our throats, which is even worse than when Biden does that. it destroys our last hope, it destroys our motivation, it demoralizes our warriors, it’s the epitome of despair, because it seems that no matter what Trump feels about Israel, his main goal is to taie credit for a semblance of peacemaking, at any cost, which means, at a cost of our lives, our security, our dignity… we hoped that at least Trump gets it, but here we are, with our proverbial collective back looking like a pincushion with his dagger sticking out of it next to Biden’s and all the rest of them. all because Trump made public bravado statements too early, too loudly, and without due dilligence or consideration, and then sent here the least fitting person as an envoy: hus buddy and RE mogul with business ties to Qatar, a terror state that buys whole streets and city centers across the West and throws money around like there’s no tomorrow, buying politicians and deepstate bureaucrats in bulk… so this man, showered with Qatari funds, happy seller of major hotels to Qatar and suspiciously happy about his dealership with them, someone who has no clue about MidEast, terrorism, Islam and such… someone like him was sent as an envoy to help Trump out of the trap he got himself into when he rushed to threaten Hamas with “all hell will break out” unless they give back the hostages and stop the war BEFORE he gets into office! which means, he didn’t just pick a hard date that limited only himself and us, Israel, but not Hamas, but also a date that was still within the period of his utmost weakness, when he still can’t do anything on hus own, but is already viewed as a president elect, and as such, bears responsibility for his words and can’t just throw around promises or threaten anyone with power he can’t use yet. he only limited himself, but instead of showing a bit of flexibility, decided to just throw us under the bus to spare himself from even the slightest shadow of embarrassment. so, when Hamas didn’t react to thus threat, which was not just empty, because its terms would expire before Trump takes office and becomes able to apply any kind of serious enough pressure on Qatar, or Iran, or whatever is in his reach… when Hamas didn’t react as expected (why would he even expect any positive reaction in these circumstances?), he sent his envoy to pressure Israel instead, thus ruining every bit of trust or hope, and clearly showing his real priorities, which would haunt us (and not just us, America too… and the West in general) all the way down the road, disenfranchising and demoralizing allies, while empowering foes. and the awful terms of this “deal” not only betray the remaining hostages, not only create a situation in which Israel is pressured to concede or else it’ll be viewed as a party that doesn’t care for their lives, not only grants Hamas full control over the process which it can cut short any moment, leaving most of even the agreed 1/3 of our people inside Gaza for good and without any hope to ever be released, it puts all the responsibility for the situation that is no longer under any Israeli control, solely and fully on Israel, so Hamas can do whatever they please, it will still look like Israel is responsible for everything. IDK if this move was a cynical calculation by Trump, or just a chain of unfortunate events that resulted from his stupidity and arrogance, but he couldn’t come up with anything worse than that. this is peal betrayal, and you can’t even blame the left for it, neither American, nor Israeli. it’s 90% Trump and about 10% Bibi (because he probably didn’t expect such a turn either and was caught unarmed, which left him with no choice given all the pressure from all around, so unless some especially incriminating evidence emerges, I can’t put on him more than 10% of the blame). btw, if Trump thinks that he will be able to cover this glaring hole by finalizing the Abraham accords, he can’t be more wrong: after he humiliated us in front of all the Arab states, after he confirmed that even for him Israel is nothing more than a vassal whom he can throw under the bus for the most minuscule if reasons, like avoiding expanding a little the timeframe of his threat, because this way it would look a little bit less perfectly tidy… no one will go for any treaties with us. he just ruined everything, every bit of hope for the better, and gained nothing. he still doesn’t get it, but he humiliated not only Israel, but also himself, America, MAGA movement and everything we were fighting for. with one stupid move and one stupid appointment. but he can still enjoy playing golf with his new Qatari friends. and Ayatollah will be happy to replace Israel as the new American bestie, now finally officially and not just behind the scenes… and when it happens, America will find out, and pretty soon, I’m afraid. btw, yes. after this betrayal I don’t believe that Trump will be behind us on anything, including Iranian nukes. it’s clear now that he wants to sign worthless papers, where he gets the undue credit for fake optical-only deals, while Israel lubes his path to undeserved fame with the blood of its people and gets all the PR heat on its way. he was our friend the previous time because his daughter just married a Jew. this time he’s a friend of our foes, because hus other daughter married a Muslim. and very probably this was all that ever motivated him in his attitude towards Israel: his business deals with his new in-laws, who asked him for favors as a part of a deal. when it was a Jew, the favor was to support Israel, and he got it. now, when it’s a Muslim, the favor was to sell Israel out, which he also did. the art of the deal, uhuh… main component: find the barter item, the bargaining chip you can exchange for whatever you need, with maximum profit and minimum regret. Very painful to hear. I want to stay informed but it takes so much out of me to hear all this. I can only imagine how terrible this situation is for those in Israel who are living it. The worst is the deaths of the soldiers every day. I blame the Left in both the US and Israel as well as American Jews who support the so-called progressive left of the Democratic Party. January 20 can’t come soon enough.
