Aal-e-Raza subscribed to the Lucknow style of sher shayari telling. He uses a reprimanding tone and a simultaneously educative naseehat to the listener while retaining the tehzeebi Lucknow style. Each sher of this ghazal have delicately balanced misra's and this remains one of his finest verses.
These verses once in the hands of the Shahenshah Mehdi sahab become pure magic, who wove his ghazals intricately with the fabric of the lyrics always using the right raag. Nat Bhairav, a karuna ras rag in this instance.
Shilpa's alaap sets the mood and tone and she delivers a delightful rendition ably assisted by Mani Bhardwaj on Table and Ghulam Ali on Sarangi.

इसमें कोई शक नहीं है कि उस्ताद मेहदी हसन साहिब की गायकी के आसपास भी कोई नहीं पहुंच सकता, लेकिन ये भी कोई कम नहीं कि इस बेटी ने उस्ताद जी की इस भयंकर और लीजेंड्री ग़ज़ल को गाने का साहस तो किया। युवा पीढ़ी की ग़ज़लों को गाने की कोशिश को हमेशा सराहना चाहिए और उनका हौसला बढ़ाते रहना चाहिए, ताकि ग़ज़ल गायकी हमेशा ज़िंदा रहे। बाकी रही इस मोहतरमा की गायकी की बात, उन्होंने ग़ज़ल गाने वाले कई गायकों से बेहतर गाया हैं। क्षमा करना भाई, मैं आपकी बात से सहमत नहीं हूं।

She can sing well but some pronunciations are too narrow. Thats not good for classical or gazal singing. (May be she is more suitable for Dipika types routi Songs?)
