Well, I had never heard of Jo-El Sonnier before 1989. The Cajun musicians i was most familiar with were Jimmy C. Newman and Doug Kershaw (Kershaw more so than Newman, really). From what I was told about Sonnier when I first heard "Tear-Stained Letter", what you say makes sense. I just didn't know it before.

Is he touring again? I wasn't sure if he was making music since his wife passed away. I was a teenager working in radio when "Tear Stained Letter" came out, and I've always loved that song. This is great! Thanks for sharing!

When did Ernest Tubb have anything to say about Jo-el Sonnier? ET died in 1984. Jo-el Sonnier didn't start making hits until 1989.
