This one was instant love for me too. Really want to try the rich extract version, As the cologne intense has noooo lasting power. If I could find a natural oud equivelent of this, something with the real agarwood oil, accompanied by simple citrus I would be in heaven. Most real ouds have heavy spices added as opposed to bright clean notes. If anyone can recommend something I am all ears!!

T'is a pleasure to see Ashley in the mix, her attractive presence & knowledge of perfumery is always a welcome addition to your vlogs. I have this fragrance & I do like it but it fails terribly with its projection & for me, it's a skin scent after about an hour, I'll have to try the "rich extrait" version to see if the projection & longevity works better? I've not ventured that deeply into the wider range of fragrances that Joe Malone has in their collection but the ones I have are "Wood Sage & Sea Salt" which is a lovely spring-summer scent & "Lime Basil & Mandarine" is not bad, just that they don't last long or project well at all, which is a real shame. Ashley's logic about being able to wear this in the summer makes perfect sense, as it's not "overly Oudie" so it's not as cloying & nauseating as some Oud's can be. P.S "Tom Ford's Oud Wood" as mentioned by Sebastian is one of my favorites for the autumn/winter months along with "Creed's Royal Oud" & "YSL's M7 Oud Absolou" which is a lot more user/crowd-friendly than the original M7. All three of the aforementioned Oud fragrances are great for one to start with, but the "Joe Malone" would probably be the better fragrance to go with, if you haven't yet taken that step into wearing any form of Oud fragrance.

I got a sample of this some months back and LOVED it. Also LOVED my sample of Santal Royal... but because they're over $100 each I didn't buy them but have waisted many more times that amount on cheaper fragrances, none of which I love. Live and learn, I guess. My next buys, many years into the future, lol, will be these 2 fragrances and a bottle of wonderous Ganymede. Ashley is a lovely person.

As far as the concentration levels go, the Jo Malone rep at the mall who was working the counter told me that the British wanted to separate themselves from the French regarding the labels: If their bottle says Cologne it's the equivalent to that of an EDT; Cologne Intense is supposed to be like an EDP; and the bottles that say Absolu are the "parfum" concentrations.

Love Jo Malone fragrances but very short lasting. Will try to layer with body creme to extend the scent. Oud & Bergamot and Wood, Sage & Sea Salt are my favorites. Very classy & office friendly choices! 👍

I really like this one. But I'm also annoyed with the performance. It's pretty weak. But it smells great though. The citrus and oud smell so nice together. I also love that vibe in AdP Colonia Oud, and, surprisingly, in Bogart's Oud Edition (though the current version doesn't have that strong citrus in the opening now). Velvet Rose and Oud is also lovely. That's definitely my fav from Malone

Using Iso-E-Super or Iso-Gamma-Super is more mass-appealing than using natural cedar; it's like you said - synthetic oud may smell a lot better than the natural one

hi meybe i'm 4 years late for this video last week i sampled it o nmy skin so the bergamot fluh away very fast but the oud stayed very long i may say 6-7 hours even though you consider i wash my arms for my prayer the oud was there, i dint bought yet but i'm between the rose oud and bergamot oud

It's a good scent, not great. It's a very happy and light oud for the heat. I was expecting something more interesting because of the contradictory notes, but like I said, it's not bad. I wouldn't pay more than 90 for it.

I'm looking to see if this is on discount somewhere for cyber week, after this video. This fragrance has my curiosity peaked. I have one Jo Malone sample from Sephora Lime Basil Mandarin, and it's nails on chalkboard for my nose. The Basil is so clingy and annoying when I wore it. I couldn't get home quick enough to wash it off. 😵

I agree/disagree with Ashley; she is wrong about both demand and environmental impact of naturals. If anything, demand for naturals is increasing. And almost all synthetics are petro-derived, so how is using an oil derivative environmentally more friendly than botanicals themselves, when the oil industry is responsible for almost all environmental destruction. Those petro aromachemicals are all tested on animals, so that certainly isn't in tune with supporting the environment. People don't want petrochemical derivatives on their skin, they want natural substances. Synthetic oud definitely smells better than many natural ouds, agree with her there completely. But too often people can sense artificial scents and dislike them simply because the body/nose is rejecting something that is foreign and displeasing. Hence "it's too synthetic." A worst offender for me is Dior Sauvage.

The reason there's IFRA is because of naturals. Naturals cause allergies, did you know abou this? Don't you know people are extremely and overly sensitive to every freaking thing these days? So I doubt they want naturals. LOL! That's why naturals are being outlawed in fragrances and synthetics are more frequently used because of laws against using the naturals.

There are _zero_ long term human tests on the bio-accumulation effects of synthetic chemicals through the skin, ALL of which are read by the body as foreign and toxic. And any attempt to eliminate naturals is due to _patenting_ ...you can't patent naturals, there is zero financial benefit to any company and regulating organization. I take it you're not the least bit concerned that you're getting direct entrance into your bloodstream of petrochemical derivatives nor of the organ chemical accumulation that is now documented, nor about what it may be doing to us.

Jo Malone intense cologne fragrances have bad performance. The sticker on the bottle peels off very easily, and the cap is very cheap. Light, and doesnt even click. I wouldnt pay more than €30 for any of their fragrances.
