Joan Armatrading im Rockpalast: Da begegnen Musiker wie Produzenten ihrer eigenen Geschichte. Als Joan das letzte Mal im Rockpalast gastierte, stand sie noch am Anfang ihrer Karriere. Das deutsche Publikum lernte sie erst durch eben diese Rockpalast-Auftritte 1979 und 1980 kennen.
Trotz einiger Hits in der Folgezeit wurde es in den letzten Jahren stiller um die Singer/Songwriterin aus England. Doch 2007 war sie mit einem neuen Studio-Album wieder zurück und knüpfte nahtlos an ihre alten Erfolge an.
Rockpalast hat den Auftritt von Joan Armatrading in der Kantine Köln aufgezeichnet.

There are two artists that I have loved all my life. One was David Bowie and the other is Joan Armatrading. Her music touches my very soul. She is right up there with the very best musicians. I remember seeing her live when she first burst on the scene,I was blown away by her guitar prowess then and she was mainly playing rhythm. Now she plays lead in her ensemble and is just killing it. She is a once-in-a-generation artist and deserves to be an icon.
