Joan Baez's voice is absolute purity! Little did she realize when she was singing that horrific times were coming - we thought nothing could be worse than the VietNam period - but now the Trump regime has captured too many supposedly intelligent people . . .will we overcome?

This unbelievably marvellous voice - like a clear bell... Joan Baez was a legend when I was young, in the 1970s, 80s, and she still is a legend today... The voice may have become somewhat more husky, but it's still wonderful... And in these incredibly painful days, when a crazed dictator is raining down death and destruction on places that I know and which I love, I find myself returning once more to Joan Baez... for solace, probably...

Truly a unique voice. Not only did she have a soprano high end that could cut through the densest fog like a knife, she also possessed a very resonate Low end. Listen to her sing "Boots of Spanish Leather" or "Sad Eyed Lady of the Low Lands" She not only hits those near contralto notes she makes an impression with them.

Hey! Charlotte Church used to have that moniker. Well, there’s lots of angels, and like snowflakes, none two are alike. Today Celion Dion (Canadian,) Sissel Krkjebo (Norwegian,) and Patricia Janeckova (Slovakian) are three angels singing to light up our lives. Can’t think of any good American singers now - most perform acrobatics and seem to have a 5 note range.

Well, for those of us of a certain age, she certainly brings back memories. The utter simplicity of her music means that she enjoyed the kind of direct rapprochement with her audience that today seems almost unknown (and perhaps unwanted). She was an absolute marvel. If you've got the voice and the technique, you don't need a gazillion megawatts to cover your infirmities.
@oldronald65603 жыл бұрын
I first heard her in 1962. Totally intrigued, I bought her earliest Vanguard records. Now, 84 y.o., I don’t get all the words, I need captions. But, I’m still enchanted by her voice. A unique blend of tremolo and vibratto, her crystal- clear soprano soars above most others- but with a warm and cozy feel. Notiice how her guitar playing is different, and appropriate to each song.
As a singeer myself, I can't imagine there will ever be anyone even close to that lady's talent. So sad she's gone.

14:00 Joan was heartbroken during this time. Especially singing this song, I'd imagine, seeing as Dylan wrote it. It's very clear on her face that she was crushed. I sometimes wonder if this was written about her. It's typically said that he wrote it for Sure Rotolo, but I can't help but wonder if it was about Joan, and now she sings it after being burned by him on tour. Sad how she says that she is anti-marriage. Poor Joan
