my first time hearing this song and performance. my take-aways: the song isn't conveying that violence is never appropriate, but rather when used, it should only be done in protection of human life; violence should not even partially be justified by suggesting that it is in alignment with God (on your side). secondly... wow, how direct and explicit are those lyrics! I think many who might produce something similar might design lyrics with less specificity, in the hopes that their words appear "timeless", but what I get here is that he sacrificed such perceived expectation of some higher level of timelessness, instead choosing to embolden his statement, and give it solid weight and substance by calling out tangible references to take lesson from.

I like your comments regarding Zimmy’s lyrics. My comments were political because this song is Dylan’s political statement on the threat of the end of organized life on planet earth. Blowing in the wind was a poetic statement like Lennon’s Imagine was poetic, not political. With god on our side? I am just thinking about the country I know which is The USA that we are “Exceptional “. That is not true anymore. If it ever was true. That we are the moral exception that we are on the right side of history. Is there an alternative to war? Reform or revolution? Can revolutions be nonviolent? Is any cause worth dying for? My comments are very political. I apologize. Peace
