Thanks so much for posting "With God on Our Side" - my husband and I are their same ages and can almost feel some of the emotions that ruled our lives during the Viet Nam War and the ML King Marches and ML King, and John and Bobby Kennedy assassinations. The title of the song is actually the opposite of what most people thought was the meaning of the words.

Very well said. I got a chill. Those were the events of my childhood. The words to that song opened a door in my mind and I understood so much so young. The first song I saw Joan Baez performance was Bob Dylan’s “With God on Our Side” in 1963. I was eleven.✌️❤️🤭 9:37

This was a six-hour anti-nuclear movement event called ''Peace Sunday Rally'' at Rose Bowl , Pasadena (CA) on 06 June 1982 . That year Dylan only gave this ''concert'' and as guest star , Joan Baez was the main act . They play With God On Our Side , A Pirate Looks At Forty (Jimmy Buffet) and Blowin' in the wind . In that year Dylan only recorded three songs for his friend Allen Ginsberg at Rundown Studios (Sta. Monica CA) which he plays bass guitar . In another session he recorded with Clyde King several songs for a Clyde solo álbum but never was edited . Really it wasn't a productive year or maybe it was , at least for Dylan .

According to Baez' ROLLING STONE interview, neither of them had ever performed the Jimmy Buffett song ("A Pirate Looks at Forty"), and so Dylan scribbled the lyrics on his forearm, which is probably why they both can be seen looking at Dylan's arm at various points.
@RevolucionNr97 жыл бұрын
This song is called "With God On Our Side" and is written by Dylan himself.

You must not have watched the video all the way through. There are three songs. The first one is "With God on our Side", yes, and the second is Buffett's "A Pirate Looks at Forty", as I said. The final song is "Blowin in the Wind".
