When I see comments from people of all ages, 80, 90, 45, 19, converging on a sense of full satisfaction, I see the power of Dylan's music. At 60, and ever since, I keep hearing and getting excited about BD. If I had a great joy in life, I had the privilege of having Joan Baez singing, to the chapel, right next to me, in a concert that she was forbidden to perform, due to the dictatorship imposed in Brazil in the late 70's . Long life Bob. Long life Joan.

Singing this song, this timeless song, standing so close together evokes that time when so many stood together, with hope, love, and peace in their thoughts even while the dogs snarled, the truncheons whacked heads, the hoses blasted bodies, the bombs fell on the innocents, assassins took out their leaders, as napalm scorched the land and agent orange assured future misery. Those times are gone, but this song is still strong, still asking the questions we haven't found an answer to. We must keep trying.

I'm 49 and I first discovered the folk music of the 60s in high school and boy, my friends had NO idea why I was listening that music when rap was becoming so popular and hair bands were considered modern legends. But something about Joan and Bob and Phil Ochs and Judy Collins spoke to me then and still do, though now my children don't understand quite why I love it so much. I wasn't lucky enough to experience their music as it was emerging, but it is timeless, always relevant and Joan's voice will always mystify me for its powerful and pure perfection.
