Love Joan Crawford! Great actress and a great star!
@matthewbeumer31687 ай бұрын
Her performances are melodramatic but she was capable of great subtlety in her roles too. Interesting that people still watch her and are fascinated by her Why? because she is truly cinematic for a woman who stood at 5 foot 3 inches the camera loved her. Bette Davis said of her ' christ that dame's got a face'.

@@PeterFitzgerald , Joan Crawford was an amazing screen presence in all she did , except that most of her movies were high camp ( the women was not a Joan Crawford movie , it was a Norma Shearer/ Clare Boothe Luce masterpiece ) ! the reason that ' ' The Damned Don't Cry ' is so incredible , is that as outrageous as it is , it's real and human ! @kevinbuckley77052 жыл бұрын
@@lancedukel3436 Yes. Her book was denied by Joan's other two daughters. Joan's childhood made her a tough mother and she made no secret of it. The film of Christina's book was a farce. Bogart could not stand Crawford as a person but admired as an actress and there's a body of work for us all to admire.

I wish that Joanna Crawford were in comedy movies, because she had great comedic timing. Also, it would be nice for her to have a role as an output for her rages to lighten her up, as the toxicity of Hollywood and the pressures of being a star blur the lines of reality and fiction. By being in comedy, maybe she'd find some sort way to express her frustrations in a healthy manner. Instead of "Tina!...Bring me the axe!"

Watch her as Crystal in "The Women." She should've done more movies like this one. I would have liked to see her work with Ernst Lubitsch or Mitch Leisen.

Flamingo Road gets a brief mention here, not a "stature" film by any means, but for me a very enjoyable one. Sydney Greenstreet is so nasty in this one.
