Yes I agree, people really need to hear (and see, if possible) the live versions of her songs, to get the full impact. I like the studio versions fine, but live, there's just an extra vigor and vocal energy. I also feel this way about the Runaways.

This was 1981 at Fireman’s Memorial Park in Hempstead , Long Island NY. I’m there in the crowd , it rained but we had a blast. . In fact , I bought her album out of the WLIR “Air-van” and still have it. Also , went to see Greg Kihn Band a few weeks later , same spot!

That’s cool you were there. I wonder if Jimmy Lyon was playing guitar for Greg Kihn then. He was in Eddie Money’s band . He played on Eddie Money’s first album. Played the solo on the song Life For The Taking. He had his pilot’s license since he was young. He quit playing in bands and started flying commercial jets for a living, then he started playing again. A really good guitar player.

Saw Joan in 87 and then in 91 she really puts on a great powerful performance her guitar 🎸 playing is underrated and she really knows her stuff and the Runaways were underrated they were perfect for the time in the 70's Joan, Cherie, Sandy, Lita and Jackie plus Vickie Blue RIP Sandy ❤️🕊️🌹🥁

I've been following Joan ever since the Runaways. We're the same age, and in the 80's some of the girls used to show up at my band's gigs in Hollywood. In any case, the band in this video was the best band Joan ever had, in my opinion.

They're definitely the best looking. Now, her band members have spiky hair and are filled with tattoos. I don't know why so may rockers adopt that look. As this shows, one can rock without that. That being said, I might hate tattoos, but I love Joan's. They are very tasteful, as far as tattoos go. I just hope she sticks to what she's got and doesn't over-do it with more. Besides, I love her skin.

I was not really thinking about the Lyrics to Bad Reputation, but my dance teacher said I could not use it for a recital, we decided on I love Rock and Roll. Then it ended up being a song the whole class did a routine too. I wanted that too be my solo, and acrobatic number. When I taught in dance studio, and I used I love Rock and Roll, by Britney Spears, the students wanted the Joan Jett version, because Joan Jett put her soul into her song.

Definitley on Long Island .. WLIR / 92.7 was a Long Island station known for underground Rock from the mid 70's until it changed formats in the late 80's. That would put this concert somewhere around 1983-1987. There are many "Fireman's Fields" here on the Island so I can pinpoint which town she is in. She does live here in Long Beach and has a place in Rockville Centre as well.
