I was always a big fan of David Hartman. News shows were so different back then. I miss those days.

Joan Lunden was not the first female host on GMA...Nancy Desault was part of the first anchor team paired with David Hartman when the show launched in 1975.

Yes an no, ND was a sidekick to David Hartman and never officially had the co-host title. Even when Joan Lunden came on she originally wasn't termed a co-host but a sidekick as well, but because of her popularity and resonating with viewers, she eventually became co-host and equal to Hartman.

I’m so surprised to see “David Hartman” in the public eye even for a brief moment; People almost forgot; you don’t see David Hartman that much on television 📺 anymore if at all. I remember him now Retired.

GMA was so good when David Hartman and Joan Lunden were there. It was a national show that felt like a local show. I stopped watching it after Charlie Gibson joined. Michael Strahan should've stayed with Kelly Ripa. It would be cool if they went back to 2 people and had Robin Roberts lead with George Stephanopoulos. Those 2 would make GMA old school and cool. Now, it's just a bunch of people trying to get air time.

Yeah just saw a hour of GMA from its first month on air in November 1975. It was the 11th show. The debut was 27 days after Saturday Night Live. SNL debuted on 10/11/75 and GMA on 11/3/75. Also on KZbin, here, is David Hartman's final show in 87. The following Monday Charles Gibson started his first stint. Later returned for a second stint. As for Joan Lunden she started in 1980 and left in 97. Diane began in 1999 and left in 2010. Gibson did 87 to 98 and left over a year but returned in 99 and stayed till 06. Gibson got the pleasure to work with Lunden and Sawyer and a few months with Lisa McCree too.

There was a story on the cover of Time Magazine in the fall of 1980 on the Morning TV shows--GMA (ABC hosted by David Hartman/Joan Lunden, Today (NBC hosted by Tom Brokaw/Jane Pauley) and CBS Morning (hosted at that time by Charles Kuralt)-the story goes that Hartman had this "enormous ego" and was hated by everyone on the show--two previous co-hosts-Nancy Dusseault and Sandy Hill left because they didn't get along with Hartman--Lunden was hired because she was new to television and could put up with Hartman's ego/tirades---ABC put up with Hartman because the ratings were excellent and the networks were beginning to release how lucrative morning shows were becoming
