How daring, yet how spectacularly successful, to sing the virtuosic Casta Diva up a full tone in live performance! This was an amazing period for Sutherland who retained her stratospheric notes and prodigious coloratura, but who was also gaining the kind of vocal heft we hear in her Turandot recording from around the same period.

That trill..... this is grand opera singing. Who says Sutherland did not have the temperament for Norma? She communicates plenty in the recit. She is simply magnificent here.

It was written in G, but the original performance was in F, as Giuditta Pasta found F to be more suitable to her voice than G. Critics often refer to it as the Key of Pasta.

Sutherland sung like she don't know music or just try to screw Bellini's works ~ And the trills are ridiculous. The phrasing is horrible, and simplify to not Bellini's anymore. Such a disgrace @ @ I was shocked !! I'd never expect that. I rather turn to Montserrat WAAYYY better and have much heart ~ This Casta diva was frighting to listen to
