I got to read a lot of books in 2024. This year, I was on over forty flights and since reading is my favorite airplane activity, I got to read hours and hours worth. Here are the 10 books I read this year:

Please do more book videos in 2025! I used to live in Korea (for 5 years) but it was a bit less accessible for finding English books at libraries and I often had to order online. So it’s refreshing to see you reading , collecting books from other countries and even being gifted books 🎉📚

You give a precise synopsis of the book, tell us what you liked and didn't like, and don't ruin things with spoilers. Nice job! (3) I am a book reviewer for the Fantasy Literature website, and have found that if you just commit to reading around 25 pages a day (which isn't really that much) you can knock off more books than you might expect. I read around 40+ this year. (4) My favorite reads of 2024 were Edmond Hamilton's "The Haunted Stars," Algernon Blackwood's "The Complete John Silence Stories," and Karl Edward Wagner's "In a Lonely Place"...not that I think any of these sci-fi and horror books would be for you, Joan. (5) Thanks as always for all the recs. And BTW, I can't believe that you, one of the prettiest women out there, would ever want another woman's face! 😘

I have about 7000 books here at home. Maybe not all in your language set, but if you are in Paris or Herzogenaurach next, I'd love to hand over some English books that I feel would fit :D Herzo would be easier as my parents moved there!

Joan, I love it when you recommend books, and I cannot agree more on what you have mentioned. I read all of these books and they were all great! “If I Had Your Face” is a thought provoking and interesting read. It made me go through what I have observed, how the society is, beauty standards, and so forth. “The Little Prince” is a book that hits you differently in each stage of life, in my humble opinion. I read Yellowface after seeing Ashley's post about it and I'm glad I did! I get how the later parts and the ending could be off-putting for some people, but it was a crazy ride and I honestly enjoyed it too.

I'm reading a book that a classmate lent me called Under the Black Umbrella by Hildi Kang. It's a collection of stories and memories from Korean elders who lived through the Japanese occupation, talking about how much or how little their lives and the lives of their families were affected by all those changes. I really do recommend it if you liked Pachinko!

you need to read the green bone saga its a trilogy, its about family, political and clans with some fantasy. another trilogy by the same auther of yellow face is poppy war. and its amazing, war and fantasy. for a fun cute book read the seven year slip. love you ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Why is it surprising that Joan reads English language books? She's American and English is her primary language. In her school years she read, wrote and spoke English.

i agree with your take on the ending for if i had your face ♡ at first, i felt the same about the ending being meh but then again, that is just how life is. you cannot always get solid answers, even from a book. in my head, i let the characters move forward with their lives and hope nothing but the best for them :( i read it in 2021 and it is stuck with me until this day
