I was so terrified of her when I was little because of her role as Aunt Spiker in James and the Giant Peach. Then one day (15 years later) I decided to conquer my fear and KZbin this lady and what did I find?? THE GREATEST BRITISH COMEDY I HAD EVER SEEN. ABFAB changed mah life. I showed it to all of my friends here and they all loved it! Spread the fabulous! SPREAD THE PATSY.

I’m guessing by the verbiage that Moonbliss is American. Unfortunately we have to actively pursue British television bc of the amount of heap coming out of Hollywood. I came of age watching Abfab and keeping Up Appearances. My mom raised me watching Upstairs/Downstairs and Are You Being Served. Many people here don’t know much about British comedy sadly. I’m sure that will change somewhat with so much on the internet tho. But one of my biggest disappointments was arriving in London, desperate to see your television programs only to find that it is mostly American. Perhaps that is why so many Americans feel isolated bc the world knows more about our culture than we do theirs, but now I’m getting too philosophical. 😊

LOVE joanna and love all her mini documentaries. i was surprised at how much i adored the "real joanna" outside of her patsy character and have seen all the travel series that she has hosted. i'm american so i don't know if this is the correct vibe but to me, she seems rather posh and "very english" but in a friendly and accessible way. her recent program about the trans-siberian railway journey was most excellent!

She went to reasonably good schools, which accounts for her voice, demenour etc. But she did not come from a rich family. She is an army child and was bought up in pretty simple circumstances in places like Malaysia, India and Hong Kong.

I never realized how high her language and accent are, and had assumed that she was not nearly as sophisticated as she has proven herself to be by how she carries-herself! This is actually the first formal interview that I have ever seen of her, and I am glad to have seen it! Cheers!
