I must have been living under a stone. I’ve been a Jazz Man for 50 Years and thought I’d “tuned in” to almost everyone, but to my everlasting shame let Joanne slip through the net. How !. I’ve put it right now. Words aren’t enough. Absolutely Fabulous. An absolute Joy !. Greetings from Scotland x x .

I've only been casually listening to jazz for the past 50 years and don't consider myself tuned in at all but I was likewise amazed when Ms. Brackeen turned up in a list of Google search results today. What a stunning pianist!

Heavyweight. Her work with Stan Getz at Montmarte in the mid 70s was always a favorite.

Joanne is a "Two-Fisted" player, she plays thick, full rich passionate piano. Marvelous technique, killer chops and an expressive heart.

I was in high school and my brother and our two friends went to the University of New Hampshire to hear her trio. It was a good memory I have from the 70's.

So have always liked her playing but under no circustances would I call that a Ballad.
@davebartholome29245 жыл бұрын
To be fair, lots of other jazz musicians have taken this song far beyond the ballad that it originally was. . .
@johnlindstrom99945 жыл бұрын
Bill Evans' version IS a ballad. She is like Evans, but flashier.
@davebartholome29245 жыл бұрын
@@johnlindstrom9994 Sure, it still gets played as a ballad. It's a versatile piece of music!
