Really interesting interview. Great information and perspectives here. Seeing some grey in Davy's beard is one of those moments that makes me really realize and remember how much time has passed.

Haha and me too! I’ve got small greys in my beard now as well so there’s definitely been a bit of a gap between records haha! Thanks for checking out the video and I hope that I did this truly brilliant record justice. ❤️

Why the hell not eh? Haha I have had some interesting environments to interview in. I remember doing an interview with Intronaut and I had to do it outside some shopping mall toilets it was only a phone one though so they couldn’t see where I was hahaha - thanks for checking out the video all the same though! I hope you enjoyed it!

There's definitely an otherworldly feeling I get with this one for sure, I think there's something truly special about this band and I really hope that we get to see them play live at some point - I've never seen them and this material would go down a storm!

This is awesome. Album has a TBDM feel in a good way. RIP Trevor.
@TheMetalTris5 ай бұрын
You know what I hadn’t thought of that but now that you mention it, it definitely has a bit of a TBDM feel to it. I think that was of Demonocracy and Everblack / Abysmal are definitely in that similar vein. I think it’s definitely the most technical the band have sounded, would you agree? Thanks for checking out the video!

Wow!! That is a HUGE compliment. Thank you so much my friend. That really does mean the world and I’m so glad that you’re such a big fan of them. I love chatting to people and seeing what makes them all tick really so very happy that comes across. What do you think of the record?
@sichinook37936 ай бұрын
I am so goddamn excited for this record- I seriously had been grieving over the fact that for ten years I assumed we would never have another album form them. One of my all time favourite bands. Deliriously happy when this drops and will be on the playlist for weeks and weeks. Great interview Tris, and ain't Jonny just a really nice guy?! \m/
@TheMetalTris6 ай бұрын
Man same here. Especially since when they released Sun Eater - still one of my favourite records of the last decade, they just went completely silent. I was so gutted. Same here - I think that their evolution itself is just so sick, there's so much to discover on each of their albums and their evolution is nothing short of extraordinary. He really is just the nicest dude! Thanks for the kind words on the interview, there'll be a review soon enough!

@@TheMetalTris They are by far one of the most important bands in my Metal evolution I think. I can put on any one of their LPs and just listen to it from start to finish and have regularly done a full chronological release listen. Way more influential and important than the credit they get Tris. I hope they line up some support dates over here so we get to se them live! Grail gig!

No bs this happened to me last year. I went too far with it an ended up having a psychotic and delusional bipolar episode. Got deep into the occult, Jung, quantum mechanics, conspiracies, chaos magic, the potential impending technological singularity, and other stuff lol I played a music festival last year and dropped some acid and then I really went off the deep end for months. I couldn't stop talking about the occult and the nature of reality smh I came back a few months ago thankfully. Anyway, I never liked JFAC being a metalcore kid back in the day but the new stuff is amazing prog death and its wild that the subject matter is about everything I just described.

Ahh thanks so much Daz! I know that you've got it as well, what do you think of it mate? Initially it didn't QUITE grab me in the way that Sun Eater did but I have sat with it and now it's genius is absolutely completely revealed. I think because I was hoping for something a little faster but this one is a little more groove oriented but I just love it mate. Thanks for checking the video out man! It's been a big one on my list haha

Didn't Suecof actually help write and perform the solo for Sun of Nihility? That solo is such a journey, possibly the best ever written.

No way! I had no idea that he had helped on that solo. I definitely agree that it was a for sure a great journey, that whole record and Moon Healer is a total trip as far as I'm concerned haha

Holy shit, I never really delved too much into these guys because I thought they were more Deathcore but I listened to Beyond The Chemical Doorway and it's like.. Monarchy/Owls era Rivers of Nihil combined with the bass tone of Ne Obliviscaris. I reaaaaaally dug this, damn. It's like what I wish new Rivers of Nihil sounded like. The Work grew on me and I listened to it on repeat most of last year but their new singles just don't do much for me.

Oh man, well in that case I can straight off the bat recommend Sun Eater / Demonocracy and Ruination. I would - actually ever since Genesis I think that the band have just got better and better and especially with the addition of Tony Sannicandro, he's one of my favourite modern guitarists. There's not too much time left to wait for the new record but whilst doing so I would highly recommend going through Demonocracy and ESPECIALLY Sun Eater - which is the companion album to this one! Sun Eater is one of my favourite records of the last decade, up there with Citadel, Owls and all sorts.

@@TheMetalTris Genesis is so..... so underrated. Its like a pure example of Death Metal (imo anyway). I loved these guys ever since i was a wee high school kid, getting a soar neck from head banging to the Doom EP. They never cease to amaze me.
