𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗮𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗼𝗻 𝟭𝟬 𝗦𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟯.
It’s a startling statistic: almost 33 per cent of people living in South Africa are unemployed, many of them unemployable. It’s fertile ground for scammers who prey on desperate job seekers. In Matatiele in the Eastern Cape, a well-connected and widely known woman has become notorious for using her ties to a local mayor to dupe desperate jobseekers. Offering work at the municipality, she charges a small fee for her services but never delivers. And she’s not alone. In Gauteng, a rogue recruitment agency is one of several using the promise of jobs to defraud the desperate and already chronically poor. Carte Blanche investigates.

One has to feel pity for the Matatiela sister who got scammed, but I couldn't help but wonder where the father of the three children is and what he is doing to help out. Having children is a great joy, but it is their welfare that must trump all other considerations and it is simply irresponsible to bring children into the world where there is little prospect that they can be adequately provided for and have any kind of chance in life. Lastly, we should by now have woken to the fact that qualifications do not necessarily equal competence. Municipalities abound in employees with the former but lacking the latter.

They are having children in order to get government grants. This is such a poor incentive to have so many children you cant afford to look after. This huge population surplus is what caused high unemployment in the first place. Too many people not enough work. We need to stop this exponential population growth on our planet and start moving sustainably, within our means. And yes i believe this should apply to everyone not the a few. I purposely didn't have kids because I'm practicing my belief. We can't look after everyone if we breed like locusts.

unfortunately my experience having found work through recruiters in my college days is foreign but doesn't it make sense for the recruiter to get you the job then get a part of your earnings. I know it's scam but legitimate recruiters will either have a contract with a company and take your actual pay and then take their cut, not an upfront cut that's just dubious. If they believe they can place you why not take your first months pay or a portion of it?

The Scamsters were very angry at me and because I was white they tried bullying me into being a Racist..... Cha mina ke my concern now or questions that I have is that nina as Carteblanche kanti these investigations and programs you do, televise and interview victims how does it benefits the communities and victims if at the end you do catch the perpetrators and do nothing about them, because these scams were caught 2019 but yet nothing happened to them they are still doing the same thing and meaning even after this they are still going to do the same thing.

You should be thankful. In Zimbabwe we don’t have a Programme like CarteBlanche. It’s not the job of CarteBlanche to arrest or enforce the law. They are doing their job extremely well by informing everyone on what’s happening within your country. Once informed…the police and other stakeholders can act on the report. I only wish we had such exposés here in Zim. You are actually lucky.

@@BatsiraiMusuka I don't mean to argue with anyone here, I love and follow Carte Blanche I know they are doing a great job I didn't say I doubt them at all. I thought programs like this one helps stop crime by making sure that victims get justice at end though they can't get their money back but to know that a criminal is behind bars it heals. But clearly I was wrong hence I had to ask ukuth actually what happens after exposing these criminals, thats all I was asking I was not comparing South African tv programs and other countries.

@@spha4589 I’m not wanting arguments neither. I just hoped you appreciated that having someone even shine a light on the problem is actually an important contribution. It’s not easy work. One might even say it’s a risky job as they often riffle up powerful and dangerous people in the process. They can not arrest anyone. It is not their job at all. They hand over the information to the police (they sometimes even rope in the police to their filming/investigations). I might be wrong, but what else do you want them to do? Please help me understand. I mean…the fact that even in this clip they even revisited their archives to show this “James” character from a previous episode years later…is the stuff of award-worthy world-class reporting. I don’t know…maybe I’m wrong. I know to concede that l do not know everything in the world. But l thought they are expertly doing their job. I have absolutely no complaints with the Carte Blanche crew.
