Bigweld is my favorite character purely for the reason that he wanted to use his power and money to HELP people and give everyone the chance at a better life no matter what theyre made of or how they look or their status. Something I hope to become one day. Even if there is a Ratchet for me in that life I hope I don't lose faith in what I do.

Bigweld sought greatness and improvement for others, while Ratchet only sought greatness for himself. His company was not necessarily for financial gain, but for public works and improvements. Ratchet corrupted it's ideology with greed, but it was restored to order by Bigweld and Rodney.

Everytime I watch Robots, its hard for me to imagine Obi-wan playing a young robot with an American accent while also playing a French candlestick many years later (and reprising his famous Jedi role in the most recent years). Ewan McGregor is truly a remarkable actor with an incredible range. Also Fender and Bigwell were two of my favorite characters from this movie. The humor they added to the story, always brought a smile to my face. Rest in peace, Robin Williams (the voice of Fender and many other iconic animated characters).

This scene represents how meeting your heroes may not go the way you think especially since here Rodney had to learn that Bigweld changed a lot since his childhood due to things out of his control. However, sometimes it can go better especially since if it wasn’t for Rodney saying that all he wanted was to grow up and be like his inspiration, then Bigweld wouldn’t have changed his mind and came back to apologize to the world for being in hiding for years.

I just came up with a theory for why Bigweld left his Industries: we all know that he wanted to use his ability to make life better because he had, in the words of Ratchet, “concern for the common robot.” But Ratchet, being the greedy guy he is, gathered some of Bigweld’s most loyal employees and supporters and turned them against him. He convinced them Bigweld was making a mistake not being about money. So he convinced them to try and make him retire, putting Ratchet in charge of Bigweld Industries. It was a severe blow to Bigweld, and he disappeared into obscurity, leaving the company that he built with his own 2 hands. And it took Rodney to find him and bring him back. As a result, Bigweld not only made enough parts to fix Rodney’s dad, but Bigweld also decided that Rodney was worthy enough to become his right hand bot, and eventual successor. A few years later, Bigweld would eventually retire from the company and he would name Rodney the new CEO of Bigweld Industries!!!! On a personal note, if they ever make a sequel to Robots, which I sadly know they won’t, I’d like to see what Rodney Copperbottom’s Bigweld Industries would look like. It makes me wonder: would he make Fender his right hand bot? Who knows?

2:33 Personally I believe that is actually a good piece of advice especially in this day and age considering how it is pretty much impossible to do good in this crappy world these days and it’s hard to be successful in life, I myself have pretty much given up on my dreams of being successful for example.

Doing good is often difficult, but not totally impossible. Do as much good as you can, and just know that you’ll die a good man in the end. Good men die loved and at peace, right with the world, and their last memory is a well-lived life, peace, and pride. You have regrets now, but you’ll learn to accept them for what they are if you are good. If it’s anxiety that prevents you from doing good, I can’t offer you much advice outside of telling you to just trust people. Trust that people are better than they seem. If you do enough good, people will know that you’re that one guy who’s kinda cool, the “good guy”. If enough people do good, good will seem normal. If enough people hold doors, everybody will hold doors. Just trust the idea that society is fertile ground for good, and that good will take root and proliferate if given the chance. It’s all you can do. Do it, and even if the world stays bad your whole life, at least you’ll still die a good man with no regrets.

That’s terrible advice. The world may be terrible but it was far worse in the past and yet people still did good and changed things for the better.

This advice was proven wrong in the climax of the very same movie.
