I'll admit, it's been a long time since I watched it. But I remember wicked prayer actually made sense most of the time, and Edward furlong as the crow worked for me. And it didn't need a bunch of effects that would have looked shitty back then. Maybe it's just because I watched that one right after the original for the first time, but I thought it was at least as good as salvation.

CoA has amazing cinematography and a killer tone, while Salvation has a unique premise that gives a new spin on the classic formula. I'm even optimistic about the remake! Because at the end of the day, rock bottom already has a name: Wicked Prayer.

Honest list of how i Think it will end up on the list. 1. The Crow "original classic" 10/10 no words needed... chefs kiss of a movie 😘🤌 2. The Crow: Stairway To Heaven "tv-series 1 season, 22 episodes" (honestly this came the closest to brandon much thanks to Mark Dacascos and he really fitted the Eric Draven part. Sadly this was made before quality tv came into fruition. Would prob work really good with todays budget! 3. The Crow City of angels, (honestly I liked it, the look and feel of the movie was cool felt like a fever dream.) 4. The Crow (remake) (yeah i think it´s gonna sit here with fans, right smack in the middle which honestly isnt good at all.) 5. The Crow Salvation (only think good about this movie was the soundtrack which was kickass! Filter The best things is a track I still listen to today.!) 6. The Crow Wicked prayer. Salvation is a guilty pleasure of mine. The soundtrack is great. I really liked the “pull over” scene, the formula is changed up a little, and there are some small bits of good dialog. But I always thought Mabius came off as really awkward. He looks like Ronald McDonald and his delivery was WAAAAY too over the top.

Part of that was intentional. The character of Alex is supposed to be younger than Eric Draven, and unlike the latter he was only dead for a short time. So when he comes back, he doesn't have the same point of view. The filmmakers also wanted to show him enjoying his powers a little more, almost taunting the corrupt cops with them.

I tried watching Stairway to Heaven. Dacascos was natural to take on the role, and being a fan of Highlander The Series, I thought it would be fun. Nope. It sucked. It did also make the trademark Crow makeup into sort of a supernatural death mask that would just appear, and the main villain in the pilot episode I guess was also brought back from the dead and thus the markings appeared on him as well. It was an unfortunately poor take, but at least didn't take a giant crap on the original. It TRIED to honor the original, but simply wasn't good enough to pull it off. That said, I highly recommend checking out a show called The Middleman. It's EXTREMELY nerdy, but also features Mark Dacascos as Sensei Ping, and martial arts expert in a luchadore mask. It's hilarious, and a delight to see Dacascos getting to cut loose as a goofball.

Salvation is by no means a bad film. It has flaws, but taking risks and approaching things like how he received his "crow" markings are fresh and creative. This kind of attempt is welcome in my book. Let's not judge the new film until we've seen it, it could be what we've been waiting for.

The soundtrack & score were great as usual & there were some nice touches such as the face "make up" being burn scars from the execution. Plus it had Fred Ward as the villain so how can you not enjoy at least that?

This was the best of the sequels, and I actually really like this movie! It definitely has its problems but I enjoy watching this one from time to time. As far as the "turning into the crow" thing, I think they were trying to go with that thing about "the crow carries a soul"... I dunno. This is where I go with it. And I remember hearing that the crow makeup under the burnt flesh was SUPPOSED to be scratches made from Corvis while he dug at his own face. It was just done too poorly. The score was also a lot of fun! A decent watch overall in my own opinion.

It wasn't makeup but scars this time. I remember it being featured in Fangoria before it released and the director said the scars are caused by the mask he wore weirdly enough. It's not great but it's also not as bad as it's made out to be.

I'm guessing that after TV series, where the makeup indicated that Eric entered basically super Saiyan mode, they just gave up on trying to explain it. Now it's just a part of the attire/power set. Although for some reason Wicked Prayer once again tried to justify its existence (skipping the fact that the end result looked like a poor man's cosplay of Bellatrix Lestrange or any other gothic-like character portrayed by Helena Bonham Carter).

I actually liked certain aspects of "Salvation". My biggest complaints were the gore and the raunch factor, both of which the original film kept to a minimum. James O'Barr even praised Eric Mabius' performance, while also saying that he felt "the rest needed a lot of work." I hadn't seen Kirsten Dunst in much up to that point, mainly just "Interview With The Vampire" and "Jumanji". But she was really good in this, and her scenes with Mabius were believable. My favorite moment with them is when Alex uses his powers to show Erin the last moments of Lauren's life, and how much she fought against her killers. His line to her after that was perfect - "She fought for her life, because life is worth living. Think about that...and then tell me again how much you wish you were dead."

I feel like The Crow experiences the similar studio issues as Hellraiser, as in corporate media executives make their decisions based on broad appeal and polish rather than creative merit, cultural significance or even high regard from a paying audience, because that high regard might make it divisive.Same thing with music, I hear people say there is no good new music, I say there is lots but the scope of artistic bandwidth is funnelled towards the corporate hegemony, its why we now have web.2.0 so culture can be sold as a plastic commodity. Art still exists but it may mean typing into a search bar instead of clicking... as a start, but my rant has been long enough, I am sure the new movie will be fine, the aesthetic looks tighter than most of the sequels, solid cast, the trap aesthetic isn't my thing, but I am sure I will take the good and leave out the bad like the rest of the series, the novels and other crow comics are also rad, it didn't end with Draven.

I feel like a fair number of films like Hellraiser 5-8 were perfectly fine, but wholly unremarkable horror films that got adopted into Hellraiser films to give them more recognition, but ultimately dragged the franchise farther down. The last few films were just dreadfully soulless throwaways for the studios to hold on to the film rights. the '22 revamp was a very solid entry, though, and a great sign of the series coming back from the brink.

More like Terminator. After second movie, there was no longer creative decisions, Terminator movies were made simply because someone at the time had the rights to IP. Look at history of IP owners, it goes super random, like some basketball group (Salvation). This is why like last five Terminator movies were simple rehash of first two movies, because they don't really known what to do with IP, but name is too recognizable.

I think you missed the point of the flesh peeling scene I thought of it as a butterfly, an undead, regenerating butterfly stripping away its previous form to become something new. The crow makeup ISNT makeup, its actually the flesh that still remains that he didnt peel off. Although it was awkwardly done a bit, characters within the movie call it makeup cause thats what it looks like :D

To explain the og movie's killer's not knowing who Eric was, it was just another job/day for them, they didn't care who Eric and Shelly were because it was just another devil's night. It ties into how the comic did it pretty much with it basically being "wrong place, wrong time". Although as much as I've wanted to see salvation, I haven't ever watched it so I don't know for certain if they tried going that route again or not.

Salvation was my favorite of the sequels. I understand it's not a great movie, but I enjoyed the different angle of the protagonist being killed for the murder of his girlfriend that he didn't commit. Fans would have been much kinder to the remake if they just would have renamed the main characters. There is only one Eric Draven and one Shelly Webster, and they were in the OG Crow (1994).

I just recently rewatched The Crow: Salvation. I had watched years ago after seeing the first and wanted to watch the sequels and judge them for myself. After seeing a second time I can say it’s not good I’ve seen worse tho. Has some interesting ideas, some interesting characters and setups but the writing feels kinda falls flat. Instead of being a well written movie script it feels like made for television movie or mini series writing. If the writing had some more solid areas here and there with the setups actually making interesting sense by playing well with the idea they bring up I think the film would be more entertaining and less dead.

It did. That movie was a shittier version of the first film. A pointless retread that adds nothing and just makes you wish you were watching the original. The movie HAD potential, but then Harvey Weinstein butchered it.

I used to have issues with reboots and the dead horse Hollywood continues to beat. What I come to understand though is a lot of people younger than myself have never seen Brandon lee's crow and don't have any idea about the crow itself. Now with a reboot, good or bad, it opens the doors to more people taking the time to watch the original. I'm rooting for the new one, I hope it's good.

Please watch the original with Brandon Lee. It's coming out in 4K steelbook this year. This is Brandon's legacy. The awful trailer with Skarsgard touches none of the dark comics. If anything, the reboot should make you realize the 1994 movie & soundtrack rock. Plus the younger generation will walk away from the new version & wonder why everyone likes 1994 version so much imo.

I had always keep forgetting this one was released in a theater and it was Spokane! I live in Liberty Lake now but i lived in Spokane Valley right by Spokane for 10.5 years . I always laugh though when people mispronounce the name 😁 the proper pronunciation is like the Native American/Indigenous tribe, it is pronounced Spo-can, the spo-kain or spo-caine is more of the Midwest pronunciation due to the census designated place in Missouri. Ironically though I still have never got around to watching this sequel to The Crow. Only seen the original and City of Angels.

4:08 Salvation doesn’t have a good excuse for this, since the events of the first Crow happen a year after Draven’s death. The gang he’s after shows that they probably do what they do on a day-to-day basis, so it makes sense they don’t recognize him. BIG BUT ALERT, Salvation is like an hour later 😂

I’ve always defended “City Of Angels” I felt like it was more of a horror movie instead of a revenge movie. The bad guys in city of angels were completely out their minds. Iggy pop as curve. Thomas Jane as the pervert Nemo and the yellow ranger as the sadist. I thought Vincent Perez killed it as Ash, not to mention Mia Kishner as Sara. Last but not least it also had a badass soundtrack.

City of Angels is good though. Even as a direct sequel/same universe movie as the first one, it still manages to be its own thing. Plus Vincent Perez looked like a tall creepy boogey man and I liked his weird accent. The only really bad thing about COA is the horrendous yellow piss filter they covered the movie in. I dunno wtf they were thinking with that. Other than that, it's a pretty good movie.
