Yeah it gives the story setting the feel & vibe of an alternate steampunk cyberpunk dieselpunk earth universe where they are using classical ship designs from the 20th century & not the 27th century of which is the original era/setting in the game. As Chris Roberts put it, it is World War II in space.

One of the few issues I have with movies like this, is that they simply forget that if you shut down your engine in space, you don't crash. Shut it down, drift, and get picked up by a rescue tug. Obviously, Rosie had to die to push the following story arc, but jeeze... do it right.

0:04 ... Why are the space ships falling a little bit just before rising after they leave the edge of the deck? There is no gravity there at the end of the deck. I know the studio is just making it subconsciously familiar to audiences who have seen this happen on oceanic aircraft carriers in real life. But it does not have to happen here though, so it is just odd. Of course we can further make things up as to why it is happening here. It is science `fiction` after all. 12/08/24

lost me at the planes dipping after exiting the launch run way... as if there is gravity in space, and aerodynamics to bump them back up? and why exactly would fighters shake like that? what are they buffeting against? and torpedos that fall into space like water? movie looks like it was made just after a WWII battle scene and they forgot to hit the space physics switch when the new film crew came in. its WWII carrier combat... but in space... almost half expected to see the pilot eject without a suit into space... with a parachute. and "pull up"? pull up from what? heh.
@Xingmey5 ай бұрын
have you any understanding of physics? The torpedo scene makes totally sense, those torpedoes are pushed out by... compressed gas whatever out of the tubes and then start getting speed when their engines kick in. Of course does a fighter shake up like that, when it has some big ass cannon that uses primer and gunpowder to shoot that gun. they don't use lasers in the movie (do in the games tho). And why should a spacecraft not dip after the runway? i mean they don't need a runway at all, but they wanted one in the movie, since it's in the books. to have them slide over the runway just some rcs thruseters firing down, and disengaging and engaging some other thrusters to bump back up. you are not very smart for pointing out these things and not coming up with an explanation for yourself. also, noone cares if they 'lost you' this movie is 25 years old - older than you probly by 2 decades

Lol not even close 90s early 2000s CGI and miniatures has a very clear a distinct looks compared to just raw 80s blue screen. This is post Industrial Light and Magic and during the start of the SW Prequals. The CGI back then wasn't that great but was game quality level but the miniature detail was amazing and probably the best it had ever been.
