The Worst Movies of 2023

Yes, 2023 was an excellent year for cinema (though a TERRIBLE year for Hollywood, but we here at Awfully Good Movies believe you couldn’t have had the great movies without the bad ones, specifically the Top 10 Worst Movies of 2023! Last month, we held a poll for the year’s worst movies among our readers that, as always, gets tabulated against each film’s IMDb score and Tomatometer to end up with a list representing the biggest letdowns and losers amongst our moviegoing public. Whether it was Tomlin and Fonda trying to meet Tom Brady or Adam Driver trying to shoot CGI dinosaurs, the ten nights we spent in theatres watching this crap (except watching WHITE MEN CAN’T JUMP on Hulu) were far scarier than any nights we would spend at Freddy’s. Not even the likes of Vin Diesel driving cars through explosions (again) or Jason Statham punching prehistoric sharks (again) could’ve prepared us for the likes of THE FLASH shaking our faith in superhero cinema or THE EXORCIST: BELIEVER shaking our very belief in God… and by God, I mean David Gordon Green’s ability to handle horror. And need I say any more about my previous episode on EXPEND4BLES, the dumbest movie title since FAN4STIC and the dumbest Stallone sequel since ROCKY V? But thank God for the likes of Nolan and Scorsese for renewing our faith in the cinematic experience, just as WINNIE-THE-POOH: BLOOD AND HONEY getting a theatrical release was about to have us swearing off the movie gods. And thanks to all of you fabulous readers and viewers for getting me to my tenth anniversary working for this website… even if it means having to sift through all these shitty movies at the end of each year.

i’m 58 years-old and I wasn’t aware they remade White man can’t jump! My question, WHY? The original was perfect. It had everything from comedy, action, love story, and storyline! Is it me or does anyone else think we/Hollywood lost their creativity. I feel this way with the music industry of today, remixing and reusing classic songs from 60-80,s. There is nothing new, just rearranged. They did House Party, Space Jam, Super fly and WMCJ because society doesn’t teach us how to think outside of the box. This is why they steal a lot of ideas from foreign films and why foreign films are better!

I still cant believe some of the BAD movies we got this year are from franchise that I adored. Like the "Pixar" movies, the "Indiana jones" movies, "DC & "Marvel" movies, "Fast & Furious", "Expendables" movies.... Because Elemental, Indiana Jones 5, The Flash, Ant-man 3, Fast X, Expendables 4 have all good intentions or even decent moments or perfomances but they got overshadowed by some terrible writing or overall quality of the movie despite some good parts

My Worst Movies of 2023 list: 1. *Beau Is Afraid:* This is not a movie. This is an endurance test. It honestly felt like I was watching a 3 hours long therapy session for the director of this 'movie'. I cannot believe how anyone can like this sh*tshow. After this 'movie', I was done with Ari Aster. 2. *Die Hart:* The worst Amazon Prime movie I've seen in 2023. 3. *Heart of Stone:* The worst Netflix movie I've seen in 2023. 4. *Winnie The Pooh: Blood and Honey:* The worst Horror movie I've seen in 2023. 5. *Rebel Moon - Part One: A Child of Fire:* Someone should ban Zack Snyder from writing screenplays. 6. *Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania:* The second worst MCU movie imo. 7. *65:* You have Adam Driver, space and dinosaurs. How do you manage to mix something like that together into such a boring blockbuster? 8. *Justice League: Warworld:* Not only was DC Comics a complete disappointment in Live-Action department in 2023. It was also a disappointment in Animation department. 9. *Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny:* What I already said about Scream VI can be easily transferred to this movie. I cannot believe it was made by James Mangold who gave us Logan (2017). 10. *Scream VI:* It had a promising opening but the more the movie went, the worse it became. Then came the climax which completely ruined the movie for me. As far as I'm concerned, Scream VI is easily the worst Sequel in the Scream Franchise.

Leaving the World Behind deserves an honorable mention. There are some ideas that shouldn't ever be made into a 2.5 hour film and that's 100% one of them. Terrible characters and screenplay outside of some scenic imagery.

Leaving the world behind was essentially two hours of the original Twilight Zone episodes the shelter and the monsters are due on maple street by way of people like m night Shyamalan and Jordon Peele. As you watch it, it's interesting but after you see and think of all the plot contrivance, it falls apart. It probably would have made sense if it was an A I skynet type of thing tbh.😂😂😂😮

It's interesting that "Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey" and "White Men Can't Jump" were the only Disney related film on the list. With their they're 100th anniversary that filled up with "WISH," "LITTLE MERMAID," "PETER PAN," and "THE MARVELS."

I dunno man I enjoyed the Meg 2 a heck of alot more than the first one especially since it didn't take a good hour to get to the shark action. Especially when The Black Demon exists good lord talk about a real snoozer. Also shame about The Exorcist Believer especially with the TV series getting such high praise and as someone who likes the new Halloween Trilogy it really should of been better.

2023 was really a buttom year for movies. There where far more bad movies then decent, less good movies. Top 5 are these followed by unranked... 1. Indiana Jones and the Diarrhea of Destiny 2. Barbie (Really don't care for the money it brought. It is a pile of crap filled with feminazi hate against men and traditional marrige) 3. The Marvels 4. Little Mermaid 5. Peter Pan & Wendy 5. Wish - Fast X (Or Burning Buritos on Wheels) - The Flash - Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania - Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse - Chang Can Dunk - Elemental - Haunted Mansion - Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom - White Men can't jump remake - Blue Beetle - Shazam! Fury of the Gods - The Expendables 4 (truly a shamefull movie that went against what its idea was all about) - The Exorcist: Believer - Leave the World Behind - Spy Kids: Armageddon - You People - Coming To America 2 And with 2024 having the upcoming movie "Civil War" smelling badly miles away...I'm not that optimistic about 2024 big movies, but I'm glad if I'm wrong.

Aside from the CGI microwave baby in The Flash, I don't think the rest was enough to break my suspension of disbelief overall I think the approach on the CGI in the running scenes was similar to what was done for the VR world in "Ready Player One" The CGI characters in the cronoball scenes weren't meant to be real. I think they were meant to be echoes of the real one, like statues Maybe it would've looked better if they had been done in monochrome Like the liquid metal holograms in MAN OF STEEL

I don't often see many of the movies on people's "worst" lists each year, cause I can tell when certain movies will not personally interest me at all. This is why I sometimes have a few awards contenders among my least favorites every year. Case in point, my least favorite movie of 2023 was Maestro. I haven't seen a more awards bate-y movie that had nothing going on under the surface in quite some time.

I went to see FLASH because of Andy Muschietti I love when horror directors make superhero movies And despite everything that made the movie bomb, I had a really good time watching it Muschietti was really able to create a fun and exciting movie experience I hope he gets to direct DCU's BRAVE AND THE BOLD, because he's an amazing visionary

The filmmakers making superhero movies these days are fighting up against a big machine, and their flaws shouldn't be burdened on any of them for doing their jobs the best that they can. I am a surprised that Five Nights at Freddy's is turning up on a lot of worst of 2023 lists. Is the film good? No...but it's watchable. There are other films of 2023 (Cobweb & The Boogeyman for example) that are far more egregious that Five Nights.
