I bought the new Jobo Silverbase processor and unboxed it. Super exciting! Next time I'll open a Jobo drum!!!

Hello! Thanks again for your incredibly helpful videos! Are you still planning on doing a pt2 of your experience using the Silverbase? Thanks again, I appreciate you.

Thanks for the continuing videos Greg and sharing this option for developing - I am looking forward to seeing how it works out for your interim darkroom processing needs. I have been using Jobo tanks for 25+ years, and the originals still don't leak! It is a shame that Jobo couldn't provide you with the professional courtesy of a response to your inquiry...

My cpa2 is a little big for the bathroom so i'm currently using a uniroller with jobo 2830 for 8x10 . The Silverbase seems pretty robust though.

As far as I'm aware, the wheels that come with the Silverbase are attached to look outwards to accommodate the larger tank. Having only one speed and switching rotation gives less fine control, but makes it much easier to use. It is overpriced, but it is readily available, quite compact (what I need) and perfectly suitable for Jobo tanks (no sliding back and forth of the tank, no slipping as with other equipment). The Filmomat Light is better value for money, more flexible (works with different tank systems), but it is also larger. It all depends.

I would recommend glueing the magnet to the base as I've had them come away during processing. Not good if you're developing 6 sheets of 4x5 when it happens!

You can 3D print magnet housings and glue in some magnets. It works great!

I love your videos! They are very helpful. Thanks for doing them. I am thinking about pulling the trigger on this unit as I have a bunch of Jobo tanks and arthritic hands makes manual agitation difficult. Is the second part showing it working already up? The information about this online is very sparse. What is the rotation speed? Is the speed adjustable? Does it reverse directions during rotation? How often? Does it have a timer built in? Thanks!

Hi. I know you have your darkroom all packed up now. And I’ve learned a ton from you videos.

What do you think are the plusses and minuses of Jobo vs Paterson tanks for hand processing?

Both 15xx and 25xx reels only take one 135 or one/two 120 films.

I see the magnet sits lower than the motor, presumably using a drop-box gear. Therefore, you should find you could sit that in a bath of warm tempering water - as long as you keep the electrics dry. A photographic tray would be ideal.

I just don't understand the point if you can submerge it in water. The who advantage in my mind is to make c41 and e6 more consistent and precise than doing it by hand. That kinda goes out the window if the chemicals are cooling down the whole time.

$470 plus shipping, let's say around $500 for what is just a roller base and Jobo's cheapest tank.. Moreover, designed in a way which allows only the use of certain Jobo tanks. No temperature control. No process programming. Basically, no nothing, except it rolls the tank for you. I use a Unicolor Uniroller base which I bought about 40 years ago for about $25, and it does exactly the same thing. About 25 years ago when folks were cleaning out darkrooms, I bought a second Uniroller in case my first one breaks down, It's still gathering dust in the closet.

Could that little drum do 4x5? I'm guessing that will be in the next video? Lol
