Not looking for a job, not anymore, but thinking of spending summers, not too far away from Prince William Sound. I have a big question, why do jobs pay so low up in AK? Jobs in Socal pay much more, and prices of goods are higher in AK. Does not make sense.

Do employers hire people from the lower 48 very often? I've heard it can be difficult to get hired unless you are from Alaska, or unless you are getting hired onto a seasonal job.

Thanks..i,am thinking about moving to ak in spring 2023 and need a job to start with..i,Il be using the ferry so Haines and valdez is where i,ll be looking for a job leaning to valdez..because at some point I want to explore points north of valdez.

What about jobs for Truck Drivers? Jobs with AlaskaDOT? Are some areas better than other for that Trucking career? I'm looking to move to Alaska soon. I'm looking at Fairbanks and surrounding areas but I'm also looking into Eagle River, Wasilla Palmer and closer to the coast like Homer area.

I know of at least a dozen positions open for telecommunications technicians that base pay is almost $90,000 a year after an 18 month period. With overtime it is easy to make over $100,000.a year.
