Emmy Noether. Not so many under-graduates make discoveries as Jocelyn Bell did but sadly there probably is countless injustice. And too many others denied even an education; how more evolved would humanity be if we hadn't thrown away genius gifted us, as they were the 'wrong' gender /class /race /whatever; self-sabotaging bigotry. Or those killed in the Holocaust & wars; scientists, musicians, artists, people who could cure cancer..

Hewish dismissed Bell's discovery as 'radio interference' but Bell carried on investigating, leading to the big break-thru; why did Hewish accept the Nobel Prize, for discovery of pulsars, without at least pointing out someone else found them? Hewish's contribution was worthy of a prize, but by that standard so was *Bell's* - it's illogical otherwise, meaningless. I'd feel 'wrong' taking an accolade while an equally deserving colleague was ignored, it'd kill the buzz of it for me. Of course shiny prizes are nice, but integrity is priceless. I wonder how Hewish viewed / justified it. I find it lacking.

Intelligent in all senses of the word; not only a genius, field-advancing astrophysicist but also wise; not cynical or beaten by being denied a rightful share in a Nobel Prize that went to a colleague who didn't even acknowledge the absurd dichotomy, instead positive & altruistic, seeing the bigger picture outside of cliquey-awards, & donating a $3million prize award to help physics students. I think Bell Burnell's proven herself *far* smarter than Hewish. 😉

Hedy Lamar was a scientist.. Why do films & science have to be mutually exclusive worlds; human beings are by nature more Venn diagram than separate labels; surely it's more ridiculous to have segregation based on snobbery?
