Brilliant contrast between Jocko Willink and Echo Charles. Geniunely feels like Echo is the viewers voice in the podcast while Jocko is the messenger. Keep it up, really interesting stuff.

It was definitely a good move having a non military guy as a co host. I think he helps Jocko remember that us civilians don't know a lot about the intricacies of small unit tactics

Jocko, about an hour and a half in you said “I feel I don’t help people enough.” I can only talk about myself and I can’t really explain how much you have and are helping me even though I have only just started listening to your material.. Learning from you will make me a better person and I know I will help a lot of people too eventually.. So directly and indirectly I'm sure you ARE helping A LOT of people. Thank you!

Easiest way to be disappointed by people is to expect them to understand you, treat you like you would them, etc.

And then when you actually find a cool person it's not expected and it's appreciated even more. Gotta make sure you keep looking for the good in people, because if you lock your mind on the pattern of bad then you risk letting those awesome people slip past you unnoticed.

ECHO! I know you already revised the "Good" segment at the end. You should do it one more time without the overlay of the added music. Every time I share the "Good" i just forward the 3rd episode and tell them to forward to min 144. I just feel that the words are enough. Keep it up man. You're doing great

It's very interesting stuff! Manouevre warfare seems like customer-centric service (focus outward), and then the company still have the paraphernalia of attrition warfare: no decetralized control, no training so cannot handle locally or follow intent based on broad guidance, etc. Seems pretty easy to fix when explained. Loved all the excellent points discussed in this podcast, so many hit home-runs with me, especially the illusion of control.

"You've failed.. what did you learn? What can we improve" 1:00:00... Love it :). It reminds me of "Principles" from Ray Dalio where he speaks of idea meritocracy in the workplace regardless of "power" position.. When top leaders of different fields say the same things in different ways, I guess we better start paying attention ^^... Thanks Jocko and Echo for an other great talk !

Very interesting - in one of the Podcasts with Tim Ferris as a guest on the show, Jocko states that he came to a lot of the conclusions Marcus Aurelius came to (one of the forefathers of Stoicism) through life experience - Aurelius just discovered these truths hundreds or thousands of years prior. Probably similar concept to Chinese Buddhism - once you find your path you come to realize these universal truths.

So I think that the best time to really allow someone to make mistakes is early on in whatever they are learning. That's when you should let them know and ask them what they've learned. But if it continues on and on and on I think that's where you should allow them to suffer for repeatedly making the same mistake. Just a thought Sincerely, some random moron.
