Great episode! Concerning the gentleman who demoted himself and re-promoted himself...I agree with your comments and I would also add that he comported himself very honorably when he consulted his training mentor and had the decency to consider that mentor's wisdom. In my book the instinct to seek guidance from elders is a very strong mark of character. When I was younger I tended to lack that instinct and then I read the biography of Vincent Lombardi. Although I'm not a huge sports fan I consider Lombardi to be a very great man and a great American. My take away from "when pride still mattered" was to improve myself by consulting my elders and/or superiors when I am making truly consequential or important decisions. This effort is helping to make me a better man and I recommend it to everyone. I wish I started younger.

Hey guys! I waned to give some feedback about how many podcasts you do. Maybe to help you save time you could still do one every week, but alternative between book reviews and answering questions (like this last weeks.) that way you're still posting as often, but have twice as long to go through the book and think about questions. Thanks for all the knowledge guys, I appreciate your intelligence and inspiration.

First off: Love your podcasts. 2nd: Why can’t parents take ownership of their actions when their actions have huge consequences to their child’s life? Should you arrest parents? No. But how can you help them be better parents? It all goes back to developing people to be their best. I think you should evaluate this issue more because it’s the core reason some people turn out great and others turn out like the LT. In C Company. Raising children ethically is the most important thing we can do to resolve many social issues because you can never take back the consequences of multiple failed situations when a child could have learned how to be their best selves. And yes, there is a system to do this, it’s just not commonplace for parents to research or look at raising children to be their best.

if the tempo is too high do a book review normal style podcast every two weeks but bring on guests for the in between weeks and interview them or if you know them talk about stories that we can learn something from or even q&a only podcasts or even just talk about anything training, diet, heath, special operations, etc even if they are shorter during the off weeks but obvious still high quality.

It's not that people need to be demoted; it's that some instructors need to stop handing out belts for participation, time on the mat, or just lax standards in general.

One issue when comparing to a doctor. When a doctor steps away, they don’t lose their title, they can however lose their certification and without that, they cannot legally practice medicine. So the line must fall on whether or not the belt is a title or is it a sign of competency. I’m not weighing in on the debate, just providing a different perspective. I’m a white belt, so I don’t really have a say, however I am also a white coat (doctor) so I can speak from that side.

For some people just getting a trophy is the motivation and once you have the trophy they no longer have any interest in it. It is a sad and unfortunate reality of our society that people are more interested in the status than in the knowledge and ability. Apparent in so many things from black belts, to doing a career just for the money. It is an empty and unfulfilling life one leads when one is more concerned about what people think that any real intrinsic value.

I respect everyone, the only time I don’t respect privileged people is when they moan and complain about the kinds of things others wish they could complain about, but knowing their suffering through mental illness then they would never complain if they were them, that’s where the line is drawn for me. I also cannot respect others who ignore the homeless, privileged or not. When you’re on the battlefield you see each other as brothers and from a Christian perspective everyone is brothers and sisters, yet I see hundreds of people each day walking past the homeless and leaving them their to die, that’s essentially what it is, as soon as I see you do that you do not have my respect.

The first question is a little messed up. He is upset with privileged kids because they had something (usually money) that he didn't have. Stop worrying about what other people have and don't have and take care of yourself! Your mind is on other people's success, then you are not taking care of your own success or failure. If you are not focused on yourself then you will not get better. Unless that privileged person stole from you then they don't owe you anything. Fix your own situation, stop eyeballing everyone else!
