One of the most legit podcast I’ve ever listened to in my life, hearing such a compelling story is such a motivation to me. As a young man this is exactly what I needed to hear! Lost my dad to pancreatic cancer he’s description of “pain is temporary “ was something I lost through the years of not having him around but hearing Cameron’s story and adventures really gives me a lot of push to be a lot more present in taking action in my life, thank you jacko for such an amazing episode !

I used to listen to Cam Hanes and a lot of his content for a while during 2020, and it inspired me to up my endurance game greatly, running distance and up hills that I had never thought I could ever before. Fast forward... fell off the wagon for a while and lost most of my incredible progress, but not all is gone. I've recently started moving around the coals and getting fired up about getting back it. Coincidentally I came across Cam's book last night and needless to say, didn't hesitate to buy it. Thank you for putting the book out!.. and now today I see my favorite podcast just featured this awesome episode with a whole new perspective and so much more to look forward to! Must be a sign of great things to come, no doubt. Thank for sharing so much with us and for making our country stronger!

Warrior leadership course at 7th Army in Germany, we ran the final release run(a 10 miler on flat surface) with the senior commandant and prior command sergeant major of a ranger battalion and we almost had to sprint to keep up. The Beast never ran slower than a 6-7 minute pace THE WHOLE WAY! On a lighter and funnier note....towards the end of the podcast Cam sounded more and more like Gary Busey!

Something similar happened to me. I was in a tree stand tho, trying to hit a white tail. It was nerve wracking. My hands were shaking. I have taken many deer with a gun, but this is so different, so close. (about twenty yards) I kept trying to pull the string back, but it was jammed and broken. I surreptitiously tried to investigate the problem with the bow. I could see nothing, finally the buck got wind of me and disappeared. Disgusted with the bow, I climbed down, still shaking. On the ground, my breathing and shaking normalized. I tried the bow again, it pulled just like it should. The whole thing was just a case of nerves.

Thanks for this podcast Jocko and Cameron. I understand that both of you are men who speak of integrity. To this end could either of you speak to Cameron Hanes talking about beating Lance Armstrong (podcast time: 1:41:05). Lance Armstrong was arguably one of the most genetically talented endurance athletes of all time, a man with a work ethic arguably as dedicated and focused as Cameron’s, and a man who had access to the highest paid medical and pharmaceutical professionals in the world for his human performance enhancing program (PEDS, Steroids, Blood Doping, Testosterone Replacement Therapy-TRT). I believe it would be seen as extreme ownership to speak with the utmost integrity on how Cameron beat Lance in the NYC Marathon (an extremely globally competitive marathon event) by a small margin while either denying utilizing performance enhancing biochemicals, ignoring questions regarding any type of use of said biochemicals, or glossing over them altogether and portraying people such as me as jealous. Personally, I believe there should be a biochemically enhanced class and a non biochemically enhanced class for every sport out there, and we could let society decide who they truly want to watch in their chosen spectacle (putting their money where their values are). My inkling is that non-biochemical enhanced categories of sports would die out after a decade in the crushing demand by our current society for biochemically enhanced human feats. Furthermore, I understand full well the logic regarding the whole field of racers being biochemically enhanced, the whole NFL team being biochemically enhanced to one extent or another, to the extent that if you strip one man or woman of their prize you cannot in good conscience give it to the next man or woman just behind because they are utilizing performance enhancing biochemicals as well. I totally get where we are with our every day, laissez faire approach to modern pharmaceutical consumption whether it is to just get out of bed in the morning or beat other biochemically enhanced, hard working, world class athletes in a world renowned endurance race. My concern is what kind of example are you setting with regards to integrity, honor, extreme ownership, and the singular nucleic focus on hard work and sacrifice as the keys to success at the levels you have achieved. How many 12,13,14,15,16,17,and 18 year old boys who are in broken homes, who have no guidance, who are watching you, listening to you, and hearing all this talk of dedication, hard work, the grind, extreme ownership, as the keys to success at this level you speak of....and they dream, dream of becoming like you, your life becomes their dream, their motivation....but they are lacking one key ingredient, something hidden, something unspoken, something glossed over, something covered up, something normalized….. And that is the financial sacrifice, the long term health sacrifice that comes with the path of utilizing some form of biochemical enhancing substance or drug...... Why not for the sake of these young boys, who dream big because you, because of YOU… Why not for their sake don’t you use this extreme ownership to lay out how performance enhancing biochemicals have helped you or are helping you currently? As was mentioned in this very podcast…every single action has a cascading effect, the ball tipped just a bit more accelerates it down field just that much quicker for an intercept that might not have happened that changes the trajectory of the entire game…so too with even the smallest doses of performance enhancing biochemicals. Whether it be long in the past, in phases or waves during testing, during tougher times in life, or whether it is chronic in nature (small does to large and complex doses) every biochemical enhancement supplement, substance, or drug plays or played a role in your success here today. And perhaps these young boys and men pursue their dreams just as you did, but with only hard work, maybe some marginally good genetics, and remain woefully ignorant of biochemically enhancing substances, drugs or chemicals... Thus having their spirit and dreams broken by the brutal reality of the world (as you both eloquently point out multiple times in both your public speaking - podcasts, videos, etc.) insofar that hard work, dedication, extreme ownership, and good genetics will carry you far But not might be enough to carry you past men that have the exact same work ethic, dedication, extreme ownership, and good genetics…… But instead that little something, something hidden, something glossed over, something not spoken about because it might make book deals go bad, KZbin views go down, less invitations by the greats and rich of society to co-mingle and wax eloquently in public……. racestats.blogspot.com/2008/04/lance-armstrong-finishes-boston.html en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lance_Armstrong I hope you men have the integrity to live up to the extreme ownership you espouse because you are affecting the lives of thousands if not hundreds of thousands of young men and boys… If these were sons or your soldiers I would suspect you would take extreme ownership for what you teach them and how it affects their lives to at least some extent. Because this is not the example kzbin.info/www/bejne/o4PLZZuMpb5nmMU you want to be for young men of the West.
