To me the support part is a great exhale from the seriousness of the books. You get to see Jocko loosen up and have a great time and be real with echo both these guys would be great to hang out with. I really enjoy the whole podcast. I’m hooked I listen to the new ones, and at the same time I’m starting at the front and heading to the back, learning and having a great time all the way. They just keep getting better!

On the 4th of July I was 17 my pop shortly told me about how he felt in nam. I realized that he was a warrior. I couldn't have been more proud of him. I only knew him as dad. I called those stores,"sleeper stories". I didn't have the maturity to get em. Thank you.

If you had to pay for this podcast I would. I can't believe this is free. I can't believe this podcast isn't more known. This podcast has convinced me to take the step I feared for over a year: to be a police officer and to serve and protect the people. I feared the element of death as a possibility of this job, and its ever-present dangers. I no longer fear this element because deep down I have always known if I don't take this path in being a police officer, I will be settling for a job and will never be happy. If that means getting shot doing a job I love, that is a hell of a lot better than living a lie for a paycheck, hollow inside. I am not somebody who wants to sell things to people, I am not somebody who wants to labour in a factory for a billionaire sitting on his throne, that is not me. I want to help, I want to listen, and I want to stand by my virtues and to help people who need it most. I will do my damn best to be the best cop I can be, there is honor in that, and it's in my heart. Thank you, Jocko and Echo.

sychophantt depends. A street beat cop probably isn't but you could argue that a detective is a crime fighter, it's their job to solve crimes and find and apprehend the criminals.

Great overview of the book, and an awesome podcast as always. It was fascinating to hear the shared experiences and insights of both these warriors, despite them speaking to us 98 years apart. You know a book contains truths when a WWI Canadian Artillery Officer and an Iraq War US Navy SEAL can relate. It was an honour Jocko, thank you.

1:37:26 Hey that's me! Actually no though. I'm thinking of stopping my criminality, but I don't think doing that would benifit the world much. I have things I want to show the world, but I haven't found a morally "right" way to do it. Criminality is also the fun way to go. But to honor the podcast, I might do everything I can NOT to become a criminal.

After ~50:00 he mentioned men with facial wounds being kept in France, I assume the government wanted to keep those men away from home until the war ended, to censor reality and keep the cost of the war hidden from the public and media, the mutilated faces of those men were truly horrible, some of the worst photos of any war I've seen were photos of WWI soldiers with facial wounds, they literally looked like monsters, and surgical remedies were crude at the time, just awful...

You know what guys I hate to say this but I have to: the glory of battle is put on such a pedal here as to be full on blasphemy. And though I appreciate the moral high ground of choosing bravery over cowardice and I believe I understand the authors point of view. Jesus Christ is greater. His sacrifice for me was greater. He was the only perfect ONE ever and the only fitting sacrifice. All these religious comparisons are idolatrous and man's attempt to circumvent the cross through their own accolades. Which is the plight of religion without God's chosen means of redemption. Battle in WW1 is not more glorious than that found in God's church.
@sampenn65982 жыл бұрын
I think you missed the point. This isn't about God or Jesus this is about people. It's about dying to yourself. Galatians 2:20-21 I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The glory is wherever you find it.
