Jocko - thank you for having the courage to conduct a podcast on the matters of spiritual warfare. Spiritual warfare is a constant, totally invisible battle waged on us every single day of our lives. And in an age in which our smartphone addictions continue to threaten to send our collective mental health plummeting, with the staggering loss of trust and conviction in our social institutions, and with the economic woe brought on by the pandemic and stifling inflation, it is now more important than ever before to understand that wicked forces not known or seen by us also threaten to malign any of our remaining good thoughts, feelings, and intentions as well. Take heart, “fight the good fight” as Chaplain Robert Rayburn said, and remember to pray to God for not what it is you want, but for what you actually need. Please also consider the following quote from Saint Porphyrios of Kavsokalyvia: "My child, psychiatrists are not for you. They have nothing to offer you. Today's psychiatrists label disorders as mental illnesses, which are actually demonic actions stemming from sin. By acquiring holiness, a person changes; only through this do all mental traumas depart from him. When you are filled with goodness and God, evil and cunning (demonic forces) come, but since they find no place - they depart. Do you understand: when you are filled with good things, evil then has nowhere to stay! Psychiatrists do not understand these matters deeply. They cannot cure mental illnesses; they can only treat those of a neurological nature."

The chaplain's story reminds me of one of my favorite Bible verses, Joshua 1:9:"This is my command, be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid. Do not be discouraged. In the Navy we have a rating called RP religious personnel and these Sailors are absolute units. They do all the normal admin work, but are also trained to go into battle alongside the chaplain lay down fire with marines while the chaplain does his job.

Jocko, I had several friends and clients who served in Korea - it was not pretty as we all know and they suffered from what we all know now as PTSD - they are real heros having fought in some incredible battles. I went in the Navy in 1968 and never served in country although many of my friends did. I graduated in 1967 many of my friends served and many died. My first duty station was San Clemente Island and I had the privilege of being able to go out now and then with the seals on their training. And no I was never close to what those warriors could do as they had to rescue me more than a few times as my swimming skills were not up to their standards. That said - you guys are the best of the best and our country needs you more than ever. My greatest fear is their are not many willing to filling your shoes/legacy!

For context: For about 3 centuries, the King James Bible (pub. 1611) was the standard English Bible used among Protestants. For these chaplains and anyone else who spent a lot of the time reading and studying the Bible, King James English became their "second language." His prayer was not unusual, especially for that time. I do not doubt there are still places where this occurs. Thanks for your comment. 👍

You know about the 1g protein per pound of body weight desired thing? If you wanna weigh 205? 205g protein/day. You already know. Creatine. Tongkat Ali.
