This woman has inspired me so much this week. Watching her share her story the other day, it hit me in the gut hard. I have no business ever feeling sorry for myself after seeing how much she's been through, and strong she is. Losing her husband the way she did, it would break most of us. It made her stronger and she's used the pain and channeled it into helping other families and vets in a positive way. Best part is she's saving lives, and helping other widows get through intense grief. Go Sara 💪❤️🤍💙👏

I watched a man my same age and a father of two turn into a pink mist a little more than a year before I became a father myself. That event changed me into a self destructive person, but becoming a father for the first time gave me a purpose I'd never had before. My daughter undoubtedly saved my life. Now I'm trying to save her from growing up with only a drug dealing stripper as a moral compass.

thats her mother get into church and stay married or get married. Go to church as often as you can read the bible as often as you can with her listen to sermons listen to worship shut everything else out and let God in. The waters will calm even a raging sea will be calmed by the word of God.

If you're referring to her mother, it's probably best not to refer to her that way. No matter how justified, you chose that woman and now she's your daughter's mother and you harm your daughter by badmouthing her. Believe me, you could be describing my mom, and growing up in a home where my father's attitude toward her was clear was probably more harmful to me than who my mother was in the long run. Children think of themselves as part of their parents, they internalize attitudes toward their parents. Good luck man, hope you and whoever that woman is can get it together for your girl, sounds like you're on your way.

@@baxterandcotton I'm only saying what is true. It's not like I would say that to my daughter directly even though I know she's told her plenty of lies about me.

Could not agree more. And I am a military kid well not so much a kid now I’m 25 but it was very painful getting bullied by kids in school will always have their dad‘s at home and I always showed up with neither parent because I’m home at work and my dad was always gone an appointment to get paid for. I have lived a very painful life but I’m also grateful for my experiences because They made me a strong woman and I live life alone now without having to worry about depending on to be there for me. Family is something beautiful but unfortunately I will never get to experience that in this life.

In our current society, many dont realize how many female veterans struggle with this. Were so accustomed to hearing about our male veterans, that we, in a sense, fail to realize that there are many many women silently struggling with the effects of war. Personally speaking, as a veteran myself, its real difficult to talk about these kinds of issues. Not because I refuse to speak on this topic, but because we get shut out, sort to speak. The female veteran isnt “equivalent”to the male veteran, and in return we kinda just, silently, keep pushing through. Its great to see Jocko bringing up this topic!!💪🏽🇺🇸

It humbled me as a single guy watching the quiet drama of men deploying for the second or third time as they said goodbye to their wives and children. I watched a man who survived the Battle of Wanat do so (look it up). I wanted to cry but it was a “just so” kind of moment. What can be said?

More has to be done to bring better mental health resources for veterans and their families. Substance abuse issues are very complex sir. The more we can bring practical mental health services to veterans and their families the better. Keep up the good work Jocko.

Millions of people floating like leaves on the same river... Sometimes just going with the flow and making it through... Sometimes caught up the same rocks repeatedly... Sometimes caught up in natural eddies and back flowing... Sometimes caught up in the churn of man made dams... You would think that we could map it out together Understandably the patterns are real The pain is real The losses are real Compassion is present sometimes Understanding is present sometimes Where does the indifference take hold? Where does the lethargy come from? How is it against this cycle we are both bystanders and potential statistics... There’s so much to live for and so much to accomplish... and we owe those who sacrificed their lives Good works on their behalf Otherwise things lose meaning and purpose The loss of meaning and purpose for reason of being... The association and disassociation cycles both socially and mentally... The physical costs and emotional turmoil The loss of trust The loss of responsibility and the respect that accompanies responsibility and duty... Having responsibilities and duties keeps people motivated and engaged... Being overwhelmed and needing a break creates a vulnerability Where to draw the line?

"There is a place that exists Where the land of Atlantis Rises up from a clear and calm sea And from the heavens above Descends Olympus And it is there where we bathe with our enemies And the books of our lives Are read And reread And we rejoice in songs of praise There's no heartache or pain No sorrow or loss Those have all been taken away."

I saw a commentary recently by someone who was talking about how shocked they were that terrorists went into a hospital and shot up a maternity ward in Afghanistan, last year, I believe. 4-500 years ago they'd go into villages and impale pregnant women with stakes and display their bodies at the entrances for the neighbours and any travellers to witness. They figured it was entertaining that the mother would have to watch her fetus ripped out of her before she died. Every year....It was practice every year. The bullets were kinder....is this the kind of progress everyone was hoping for? That's what a state run via terrorism looks like and it lasted hundreds of years. Sooo, who today would like to swap March break for....Butchery month? Seeing as we're all super chill and stuff and would like to be real welcoming towards monsters :) *** It is trully retarded for me to hear people say there was nothing that could have been done and the US was wrong in its war on terror or to hear people doubt the value of fighting this fight. There are always things we can improve of course, mainly equipment I think, but I never want to hear the pathetic, imbecillic, FALSE notion that somehow the monsters were just misunderstood all this time. Or that the US is an "empire". Or any other such blatant lies.
