Jocko. One of the things I thought about when listening to the part about the "robot" soldiers - It seems to me, an opinion anyways, that one of the main deterrents to war, at least in the western world, is the loss of human life. Do you think a "robot army" could lead to more war because the only loss from that point(assuming its robot on robot combat) would be money? Hope this makes sense...

Jocko showed some real humility in admitting those errors he is committing by being rude (intentional or not) and pushing back on Echo even as he was trying to give him some wiggle room to escape.

Hey guys, I'd be interested to hear you take on some of the allied missions in WW2, you talk about leadership where people know that the mission results in a very low chance if survival. It would be interesting to see some of the British and Australian experiences with the Japanese or as POWs in Europe.

Yeah, Jocko's down with fighting that robot war! It's something I think about too, every now and again(along with if we are alone in the universe and if aliens exist). James Cameron, director of the first two(and BEST two, in my opinion) Terminator movies had a great conversation with The Terminator, himself, Arnold Schwarzenegger om AMC's James Cameron's Story Of Science Fiction, about artificial intelligence and the possibility of a real-life robot war. Because as Cameron said, you have to ask yourself, if humans ever really did create something like Skynet , that was smarter than us and it worked for us and we were controlling it, how much longer would it work for us and how long would we be able to control it for? What if just like in the Terminator movies( and The Matrix movies, too), the machines ultimately come to the conclusion that humans are the problem and decide that earth would be better off without humanity and that we are the source of most of the world's ills-from environmental problems to sociological problems to social problems and so on? If the machines become so super-advanced at some point down the line that they become ''self-aware'' and start seeing us as the disease, as a plague and themselves as the cure, obviously that's a problem. Sam Harris is concerned about it, so is billionaire businessman Mark Cuban, as is Elon Musk(who apparently has a long-running disagreement with Mark Zuckerberg, the Facebook founder, over the potential dangers posed to humanity by A.I.). Musk has some people thinking that he sounds a bit too alarmist about the issue(which still, for the moment, is a non-existent one) as Musk has frequently spoken about how he is afraid of a robot war and an A.I. apocalypse and he has said that he's keeping an eye on the artificial intelligence industry and he takes the matter so seriously that he signed a pledge with Google DeepMind and A.I. researchers not to create Terminator-like robots and a Skynet-like artificial intelligence and he has pledged millions of dollars to help organizations and their research on the potential dangers of A.I., so it's a real concern.

Question to Echo+Jocko; I wish this may be touched up on when airing future podcasts. Exuse my ramble/rant. Though my question is regarding the ultimate sacrifice and deciding to put one's life on the line for our great nation serving in our armed forces. When I think about enlisting for 11 Bravo Airborne or perhaps Rangers, there are a few fears that hold me back. If I join I'd want to be on the ground near the fight but not to be Billy badass and guns ablazing, but rather be medic and learn Corpsman to be there for the platoon if wounded and be their moral support. I'm not just saying this concept from the film hacksaw ridge and I'm all like trying to be cool guy medic who doesn't take enemy life. that's one of the fears and therein lies the question, being a God fearing man, is there still a way to become a soilder and be tough enough to be there in the fight for support for the guys whilst not breaking the commandment of not killing other human beings or disobeying his word by taking the wrong life while engaging tango after contact? I understand there are bad dudes in war that have a bullet with their name written on it whom deserve it absolutely. But it still is in my mind about coming back with a damaged moral compass from wrong decisions like if I had to use a primary weapon to protect others in military rank in file near my proximity in a battle scenario and unarmed people were damaged possibly killed collaterally due to friendly's engangment of those enemy. Even witnessing innocents being unluckily wiped out in a kill radius while I'm keeping everyone spirits good, helping patch up or do head counts could really give a guy stress if you made it out the other side and returned home. Is it possible to live a normal life in the civilian world having to live with that? Considering ROE and how higher ups can be very loose and liberal with direct engagement in certain situations and on the other hand rules can tighten up and be strict depending on political climate, the mission and demographics/geographic area, it's a tough thing to answer and I conclude it's part of being a soilder near action. So maybe it's not for me. I only wanted to put it out there and see if it's an intersting topic for you guys. To sum it up and be brief, can a guy go through all the training and be ready for the fight and say he'll terminate life if need be, then just keep his barrel cold during engagements and instead be near the fight only to help evac wounded to the PJ's. Doing medic things for the benfit of the squad like making sure every team member is healthy, has enough water, and above all get guys out of danger. I'm sure objectors are looked down on since non engament can get other Friendly's hurt or killed and I understand not running your gun in certain situations can be a very bad thing. Especially when guys need to get out of trouble. I'm almost 30 so I won't be able to join after much longer and I don't want to regret that. Hopefully I'm speaking for many out there who also are wanting to be there for a hurt brother when he's down and we are just uneasy about having to go hot on enemy then deal with the physicological effect when returning to civilian life. I appreciate the podcast a lot it helps with life so much appreciation and props to Echo and Jocko. No worries if this isn't read. Way too long anyway so exuse me again for the rant but just thoughts..- Murph "keep the needles crossed and ride them to the stripes"

Bought Jockos cool late mulk and it is GOOD!! My nephews did not even know what it was initially, they just thought I bought different chocolate milk. And they told me they prefer it over nesquiks choc milk. So do I... point is if you don’t get mulk for your kids, you are officially abusing your kids.

That would make sense for a super-advanced A.I.(if something like that existed) to use someone like Jocko as the template. I'm not even joking when I say that, too. Because if you think about it, if A.I. wanted (and people like Elon Musk fear the possibility of a robot war and an A.I. apocalypse) to build a super-soldier, why wouldn't it look at all of the best human examples from the military and all of the best examples of military leadership and tactics? And anyway, Jocko already looks like he could be a Terminator robot! Ha! Ha!

I think Good Deal Dave could use your same argument against you to argue we will still need pilots even if we have some drones. What happens when all those are shot down? We will need us a Good Deal Dave to fly up and fight enemy drones
