The part that's confusing for me is that the mechanic's body is RIGHT there when you step onto the helicopter pad at Everett's house. If it was stashed away in the corner, out of view, and you had to go find it, then fine, but it's RIGHT there out in the open. I'm surprised that anyone didn't think something was suspicious about that, lol

This a conspiracy game where the one world government is so obvious about their megalomania-cal shenanigans that a dead body in an obvious location to trigger warning signs that something is amiss is the most subtle thing about them. And the regular people are too busy surviving/apathetic/dead/in on the conspiracy that you can't rely on the masses.

In the retail version I have, if you don't deal with the dirty mechanic, the heli explodes over the sea resulting in mission failure.

I think the devs made the room first, tried to hide the body from Jock, and then added the ramp later, not realizing it's in plain sight for the player. But what really bugs me about that whole sequence is not once did JC mention the real mechanic to Everett or Jock. To be fair I did get rid of the fake before reporting it to Everett, but I doubt it's in the other dialogue tree either.

I dropped a few LAMs near the mechanic, spoke to Jock without the checkup, and flew off as he blew up. At Area 51, Jock flew off just fine.

I didn't get the bomb removed the first time round.... I saw the dead mechanic and talked to the replacement and I knew something was off...but I just didn't think about talking to Everett. :/ I was literally running around the Helipad like an idiot looking for something, then just figured it might be something I had to deal with later on. >.

You dont have to talk to Everett actually. Just killing or knocking off the mechanic will be enough.

I literally looked at the dead Mechanic, and then talked to the odd Mechanic. The game dialogue scene gave me a clue that he was acting weird. I immediately pressed F7 and ran to Everett and the game did exactly what I expected. Then I knocked the guy unconscious, and took his body to Everett. He said nothing, sadly. But at least I saved Jock. It's a really good, immersive game.

When I first played that level it actually didn't occur to me that the living mechanic might be suspicious. Since I discovered how Lucius was kept in light stasis before going to the helipad, I formed the idea that Everett was just a piece of shit. Finding the dead mechanic simply made me believe that further.

@@xIcarus227 That's why I didn't find anything suspicious. I visited Lucius earlier and acknowledged that Everett was a sociopath who only cared about himself, not about others. Although I failed in rescuing Jock, it actually amped me up for the finale. Went John Wick on everyone (including the workers in Area 51) with the 10mm pistol to the point where I ran out of ammunition.

To be fair, when was the last time in the game you actually bothered removing bodies, since the AI doesn't seem to care? He wasn't stupid, he was just game-savvy and didn't expect JX to be controlled by a human being

Right, you must talk to Everett after the strange mechanic, then you get a quest to kill him, which you get points for, then talk to Jock. OR you can just kill him outright and talk to Jock to disarm the bomb, but for no points.

Without cheating or nothin I saved Jock the first time. I Killed all of the Unatco guys when paul gets attacked because I just wanted to help but it didn't save him. I read up on it later. Apparently, the trigger to saving paul isn't killing the Unatco Guards, it's leaving through the front door of the ton. Even if you kill everyone and then go back out through the window (and why wouldn't you that's where the chopper is), Paul still dies.

The way to save Jock always seemed a bit bullshit to me, why do you have to talk to Everett or kill him to save Jock? Killing the mechanic doesn't tell JC where the bomb is, he has to ask Jock afterwards to double check his systems. Shouldn't it be enough to say 'Hey Jock this guy was acting weird, you should double check your systems', or at the very least continuously talking to the mechanic should allow you to interrogate him further.

You can just cap the guy and Jock asks you why you did it. No need to talk to Everett. You can even talk to Everett afterwards and he'll commend you on starting to think like "one of them."

when i first played this game i knew that the egineer was the sabatour but i dident know i had to kill him to tell jock. so i dident kill the sabatour and when jock died i felt SOOOOOO bad.

I talk to every single person and check every room. I'm not sure how so many were able to save Jock, I talked to Everette BEFORE talking to the mechanic, and I assume most others did as well. That means the people that saved Jock went back to Everette to talk to him again, which would never come to my mind.
