i felt bad for gunther. i think he was ostracized by others because of his foreigness and being an "obsolete" mech-aug, so anna was his only friend. and despite his tough exterior, he was really kind of a goofy guy who wanted a "skul-gun" and thought the maintenence man was out to get him.

My favourite thing to do is when you have his killphrase. Run straight the computer (You'll hear Gunther behind you) and access it. Do what you have to do with it and exit. Gunther's position will have reset. Turn around and run straight to the communicator where Simons is now waiting. He won't talk. Gunther will catch up, so use his killphrase. As soon as you say it, Simons will start talking and Gunther will explode on you as you talk for no damage, making you shout in pain. Great stuff.

yeah, but he looks like an imposing tower of steel and muscle in the original. The revision Gunther just looks like a bug eyed dope. And the original's eyes look like camera lenses whereas the Revision version's eyes look like red ping pong balls. further, I always thought that the original gunther's weirdly downcast mechanical eyes made him look almost subservient, like a dog or something, which was quite fitting considering his role and place in UNATCO

Jensen and Gunther both ended up mech-aug'ed under the same circumstances around the same period of time. Jensen's life ended when Sarif pulled him off the lab floor at Sarif Industries; Gunther's ended when Paige pulled him off the bottom of the Rhone River. I would love to see these two come face to face. NEITHER ONE OF THEM ASKED FOR THIS!

I know right? What if in HR or MD Jensen met Gunther? I feel like the devs missed a golden opportunity there. We can always hope for one more game with Jensen, I doubt it will happen sadly but we can hope that there are more tie-ins to the original Deus Ex game's characters and world. HR and MD are good games but they both seem to lack alot of what made the original so good. Go on over to my man Ross's Game Dungeon (Accursed Farms as his channel is called on YT) and watch his review on HR, until I watched that video I never even saw the things he tears apart the game for lol, its still a fun and entertaining game, I still love HR but the things we woke me up to about it just make me annoyed that we could have gotten SUCH a better Deus Ex game.

Jensen and Gunther should have met in Mankind Divided. Heck, Gunther should have been the final boss of that game too instead of Marchenko. I don't hate Marchenko, but he's clearly a poor man's Gunther. Only thing that makes him stand out is his Plasma arm Cannon. Other than that, he offered nothing that made him a good character, let alone a decent one.

To make things even sadder, Gunther mentions that he needs a "skull gun" (during the boss fight, I think) and if you manage to drop him without blowing him up, there will be a Skull Gun aug in his inventory, but, it's a nano-augment so he can't even use it.

Ahhh Deus Ex Devs. I'm still overwhelmed by melancholy, when I remember thinking at the time of Deus Ex that "It's begun! The Golden Age" and here we are.... 16 years later.... And shit's just a lot worse and Deus Ex one still hasn't been topped. "Vampire Masquerade: Bloodlines" is probably the only other game I know that came close (another game from fuckin' years and years ago) (though the other Deus Ex games are pretty great too in their own right).

@Mropticalgreen You can avoid killing Anna, it's just difficult. The method I chose was to block her away in the prison area with some large crates, then beating Alex Jacobsen repeatedly with the baton until he ran upstairs and opened the door.

The more experienced senior team members are antagonists of Deus Ex Human Revolution. Gunther lacks the advanced augmentations of his teammates at this point but is depicted as a promising, highly fit and earnest member of the team - with a preference for orange soda. He is outmatched by the protagonist despite his best efforts and suffers injuries that, combined with his loyal service, land him in the mech program (new tech at this point).

Only from exploits or cheating as far as I know. There is a bunch of content that was going to be in the full game but was cut presumably for time. You can still access dialogue from cut paths

You're supposed to kill her, after which Alex gives you the key to leave the building. But Alex has that key before he gives it to you, so you can beat him over the head until he runs away from you, herd him into the door, and he'll open it for you. You'll have to get Anna out of the way first, so she doesn't kill you while you're doing this - blockading her behind some huge crates works for this I think you can also trick Anna into opening the door by throwing a grenade just right and make her dodge it and open the door.

yeah. Spector said his only regret about the game was that you can't avoid killing certain people, but Navarre can actually be avoided. A lot of the secret stuff and branching stories comes from the minds of the other staff, eg. Harvey Smith, who had free reign to put what they want into the game. There is a very good trick i always do: before even starting the conversation with simons ie: before attacking you, if you have the gep gun gun, fire at him once you get out of the blast door. The conversation will start normally, and once it finishes, he will explode :D You can for sure have a fight with him: you are augmented as he is, even more!
