It's so cute that her dad is watching Killing Eve again and again. Villanelle is one of these characters which instantly gained a cult following. And for good reasons: she is an uncompromisingly strong, bad-ass assassin who breaks every imaginable boundary and feels no remorse for doing what she does. And her batshit insane chemistry with Eve is just great. That show is a gift to the world.

Some of us Brits say 'em' or 'erm' when thinking of a reply in the same way some Americans say 'um'. Just as in the US it has the exact same upside and downside over here - if used when someone asks contemplative questions such as an actor being interviewed then it's seen as being thoughtful, if used by a teenager who has just been asked their name then it's a sign that someone is an idiot. Oddly enough we both use the same thing if we want to correct a person, a Brit will say "Errrr.. I think you'll find you're wrong" while an American might say "Umm.. that's bullshit!"

@7:30 When Jodie references the hand licking moment in series one, I think part of the reason it had such a significant impact is that it was disarming. It's in those moments of silliness that it pulls you out of seeing her character Villanelle in a way that is threatening. There's a brilliance in the mix of playfulness and then the almost light switch immediate 180 to another emotion. Jodie made this character. I cannot imagine another actor having the depth, range and unique beauty to pull of the character in the way that she has.

The interviewer is trying, one must admit, but still...there is so much more to be said about this show, beside the fact that it is a show about the "killer with a style". Vilanelle is a dark, diabolic figure with her troubled heavy background, apparently coming from some horrible and cruel Russian context as an origin...She is not a girly, puffy lady who polishes her nails and than kills...she is a real Russian-trained dangerous combat operator...she has so many military and combat skills...And her sexuality is clearly established and visible since the first moment of the show...She apparently loves women and she is ready to kill and be killed for that. There are a lot of topics to discuss, and somehow the interview was going mostly just around "what is going to happen next", "what is your favorite outfit", etc. It would be great to ask Jodie what her role models in playing the role of a Russian villain were, where she has got the inspiration to play someone so violent, how did she manage to speak and move in such a terrifying ways, how the hell she has produced such a negative character so convincingly, etc. Without talking about this, its a bit dry.

NYC & BUILD for this. A Yank transplanted in the deep South way too many years ago, it's just so great to be able to watch this show in New York! I miss taking the bus to Port Authority from CT and catching Bway matinees. Just a taste of The City is a treat! Cool to find the program beginning with the so-well-written-and-acted show Killing Eve.

I love that part when she says that they show the mundane things people do is what Villanelle is doing in the series. I love it. She's human after all and she gets to do that even if she's a psycho and a professional assassin.

I love how Jodie completely ignored the interviewer twice when he wanted her to repeat "expertise" in her very accent. Massive LOL

Like she’s explaining what she means by “expertise” 😆

She’s not “psychotic”. She’s what we call “psychopathic”. There’s a difference.

My favorite actress of the decade, Jodie is a fantastic actress, convinces in drama, is hilarious in comedy, in romance she knows when to be cute, sexy and bitch and the fact that she is from Liverpool makes her more charming.

Does anyone have her agent's contact? 'cause i want to hire her to MURDER ME with that accent. Also: Rick is one of the best interviewers out there, respect.

She has got an inexplicably beautiful face. I envy people in the studio being able to see her in person.

Excellent interview, the interviewer really knows how to make it so natural and the questions were terrific. Of course, loved all of Jodie's answers too.
