Might need to have a Key Wrist support made out of Kevlar. It's tough stuff and should be able to be made as a cylindrical cuff. Kevlar does have a little give in it and has no metal to rub or wear through the material. The Kevlar Panel with strapping was my idea with the kevlar being wrapped round the back of his wrist and tied at the front. I would suggest several straps (2 or 3) to keep secured once in place. Just a thought I had 😊 With Velcro I see issues with sabotage 😂 I would use those rucksack clips with the 3 teeth going into the open thing with 2 holes for the outer teeth bits to lock into 😂 Key proofing BTW not suggesting your efforts will not work at all 😊 hoping it does 🤞just some thoughts for a Mark 2 if needed 😁 must channel Tony Stark with this sort of thing

You’re Amazing, Jodie! Reverse Engineering Key’s Splint for his Right Wrist and making arguably a much better one for $10 which costs $100 for the original! You’re brilliant with anything technical like pattern-making and sewing AND you have a fantastic Artistic bent! Usually people’s brains aren’t wired to excel at both. But when I think about painters of previous centuries they did make their own paints which was a complicated process. And think of 19th century Wrought Iron Fence makers - artisans with technical & artistic design skills! I bet you have some great creative artisans in your ancestry! Lucky Key - you can make him a brace that fits him properly and it’s Red so that you can find it more easily in the mud & grass and around the house! ❤❤❤

Try lactose-free milk and cheese. A bit expensive for the wallet, but worth it for the health. I'm lactose intolerant. The lactose affects my breathing. It IS real milk, but with the lactose sugars removed. Good Luck.

Jodie try putting a thin layer of padding into Key's leg brace and it could save the bandages before you applied the brace and soften the feel of the brace once on .

I love making diy stuff, and it's really fun watching you do the same! why buy something expensive when you can make it yourself for the cost of materials? suggestion (you probably already know though) you should put the brace on when he's lying down so he's not putting pressure on the joint, and you can get it positioned while his leg is straight.

Vegan cheese is delicious …Vegan butter is also delicious ..if this choice is done because of being lactose intolerant I highly recommend FETA cheese & Coconut milk out of the plant based milk choices… it’s delicious alone, and it also doesn’t sweeten up tea and coffee!

Jodie, a suggestion that may make life easier- I had to put an ace bandage on my husky and that’s like herding cats so I bought a kids sock and was going to cut the toe off. My dog won’t hold still for it but that is what I used to do for a very rigid knee brace. It made sores and made me bleed and made my knee smell after wearing it all day. I got men’s socks, cut the toe off and it fit and worked great. Easier than an ace bandage.

Jodie you should look into putting on nylon or neoprene bands as an over the shoulder harness that goes around and under his opposite leg pit to keep the brace in place. The over the shoulder harness would prevent the brace from falling down when key is running about trying to get it to drop on the ground so you can't find it. Also try sewing it with nylon thread and not normal thread its better with wear and tear.

Here is a hint when working with Velcro tabs: To keep the straps from grabbing the other straps, cut a length of the other side and place it on the loose strap. (So if you are sewing the fuzzy side put the harder side on the bit that is not sewn that is flopping around. That way it does catch and tangle. Hopr that makes sense.) Take it from someone who spent many years sewing in a theatrical costume shop, it will save you from tearing your head out.

That’s so good Jodie I’m sure others who have dogs with the same problem as Keys might be interested in you making them one too. I was thinking about ear muffs for dogs who have severe noise anxiety like my dog has we have to take him away for firework night this year because of Divali we took him away for 8 days into the middle of nowhere to stay in a cottage. I bought some doggy ear muffs on line but they are useless I was thinking of maybe making my own putting sponge inside the cloth or something. Maybe it’s something you could think of doing to I’m sure many people would be interested also my dogs ears are not flat which makes it harder too. Wish you and keys all the best
