I saw them a few weeks ago in LA, one of the best concerts I've ever been to. My friends and I danced from start to finish just like everyone else. The Shalamar Reloaded section, the guy Nate with the afro is a total BAE, yes Papi!! The second time for Jody with those two hotties is a win, I would be singing it too! Her solo set brought the house down, we all wanted to be Jody and still do!! I hope they come back soon.

I've attended three American appearance of ShalamarReloaded as well as catching their Japan debut where the group filmed their first television special that was broadcast live across Asia to a sold out crowd. What ballot has been passed around for signatures requesting for the originals to return? I do sympathize with the older fans who wish for the 80's to return but people move on, situations change. Like you and others I, too had some reservations but after attending a Shalamar Reloaded concert they left the stage having to give two command encores and earned a new fan. Me! They gave a hel'lva great show. What I've learned from all this, It's never about who's in a group, but who can deliver. And, Shalamar Reloaded delivers!

This is really bad. Jody always talks about how Shalamar was 40+ years ago and how her solo music is her only focus. Yet she formed Shalamar reloaded for a number of years singing the songs of the group she was in! She says ‘no beef’ with the group and yet she went out of her way to form another version of Shalamar to prove a point. Alas it didn’t really work out. The Shalamar songs are classics though.

The original Shalamar for your information consisted of Gary Mumford, Jody Watley and Jeffrey Daniel. Howard Hewit was their THIRD lead singer. When you say original I believe you mean the most well-known incarnation; either way Jody creating her own variant of the group is nothing short of petty. Obviously, she can't reconcile with the other guys and wouldn't work with them and that's fine; but forming another Shalamar just to get at them is childish.

Sounds like a nicely toasted typical L.A. audience. I love Jody Watley and this song but she doesn't seem into this, not much joy in this performance. Sometimes it is actually better to just lip-sync to the original track. This audience wouldn't have known the difference, LOL. The last thing I bought of hers was a re -make of Chic's "I Want Your Love" and it was very good, check it out. She had a nice run with those Solar tracks as Shalamar and that fantastic solo album on MCA. Shalamar is often under-rated as a lightweight group but their vocals and hit records still sound fantastic. Just listened to "A Night to Remember" last night and it is so well-produced; so was "The Second Time Around", "Make That Move", "Take That to the Bank", "This Ring" (Howard Hewitt should've been a MUCH bigger solo star in my opinion), and the sizzling "Right in the Socket". Those singles were good as anything Motown released.

But when Howard moved on the group plummeted into obscurity.It would seem some things are best left alone and as they cosnstantly try to resurrect these singers and the sound they had it just doesn't work.You could say they left it too long through their ego's and obvious attitudes towards one another.You may not like this fact but that's just how it stands.You are obviouslty a big Jody fan.I don't dislike her but this just seems wrong.I don't even like the ide of Carolyn Griffey with Jeff and Howard either.Far better to listen to their records and remeniss that way.It's nice that they are trying but the flavour isn't there.

Many would rather crown lead singers with the measure of being the saving factor of a group or situation, but most people would rather bet against the odds as they did at Jody's departure and I agree with you SOME singers do loose their clarity and range but there's been many that continue to sound the same throughout their career and I'll name just a few the late great Ella Fitzgerald, Tony Bennett, Diana Ross, Bette Medler, Cher, Jeffrey Osborn, Peabo Bryson just to name a few. I can never say Howard Hewett's voice made the group a success because success found the group before Jeffrey Daniel invited Howard to join so the groups familiar sound was already established before BIG FUN's "Second time around" release. Howard, granted HAD a nice voice years ago but his sound was far from unique! Nat King Cole, Luther Vandross, Sade and yes, Jody Watley are singers with unique style that separated them from other singers. Mind you, I didn't say better singer, but singers with unique styles that departed them from other singers! These mystery hits Howard had with Micki and De'Lisa are what? Are you speaking of the songs Howard per-recorded ('Dancing in the sheets' and 'My girls loves me') before these two were added as replacements after Jody and Jeffrey's departure,? If these tunes were THAT popular why aren't they added to their current shows and if that have been added to the current show why have there been any clips available on youtube? If Howard was such a saving grace for Shalamar why couldn't he save his OWN career but now employed to Dick Griffey's daughter singing for her? Who said Shalamar is being RESURRECTED and in an attempt of recapturing the OLD sound (when she-Jody- was the sound)? SRL is a new group, new style, new music, new presentation. It's obvious you're a BIG Shalamar fan, which is fine, but when was it the last time you seen Shalamar to make a judgement of who, and who should not be singing which song? I just visit some clips of Howard, Jeffrey and Carolyn just to keep a fare eye before casting my opinion, but They sound like shit, Very whacked but what should I expect, so there video clips inspired me to write a little poem on their lineup. Carolyn can't stop grinning at Howard's triple chins and the fact Jeffrey has no money to spend, and Howard's used his on cocaine smoke and can't spell Blu' Cantrell all the while SRL keeps it moving without throwing shade. Flat notes Jeffrey dare a lead song he'll never sing we'll never hear his registered NO sound, because he's to busy trying to steal Michale Jackson's crown which is cool because SRL forever will be around. Their back-bitting ways and throwing shade won't last forever 'cause in their shady days and shady nights they should find the light spite of Howard's bald spot leaves a blinding light. Thirsty Griffey's singing sounds like when a Hen marches, her bad brow job is no Golden arches, and her wrinkly face reminds me of 'Man vs Martians.' Shalamar is a name I haven't forgotten, though the music industry has, they may be shade queens, but they're cloud has past just like their style, relevancy and fame. The words I speak are very right, they can't shade SRL ' cause they're always in the spotlight!

Good Evening Jody did reunite with Jeffrey and Howard in 1996 to join Babyface and LL Cool J for their cover of their classic For The Lover In You. They filmed a video and even appeared on the Tops of The Pops. Babyface wanted to produce a Shalamar reunion album but it didn't happen due to Howard wanting to get paid more money than original members Jody and Jeffrey. Jody also tried to reunite with Jeffrey and Howard many times but it didn't happen due to scheduling conflicts and Dick Griffey's daughter Carolyn who performs with Howard and Jeffrey telling Jody that they needed her permission to perform. Jody still has a great voice and her group SRL slayed. I saw them live and they had the crowd out their seats. Plus they recorded many hit singles and they did well on the charts.
