Joe Bataan is a national treasure. I cannot even begin to express how much of an influence this man was in my musical life. Or, how much he is connected to my childhood growing up in NYC.

I'm from sanfrancisco and in the 79s and 80s I remember my mother jamming his music at bbq's parties ect shes gone now but hearing his music refreshes those happy childhood memories. Joe bataan gets down.

Mate, I'm from Sheffield, UK via Brighton, Oxford and London I too have great memories of dancing to Joe Bataan tracks at beautiful parties when I was also young and free. I still do free at beautiful parties, but it's only ocassional now sadly - got to ration that shit now I'm in my mid-fifties! Thanks for the tunes Mr Bataan!

My Man- Joe Batan from El Barrio! Everyone in Carver Projects loved him at his concerts in the Amphitheater. I went to PS 171, like my father did in his day. And so did Joe!

@@marthatorres4387 I think his 'Boricua' stems from his identifying with the Puerto Rican culture and tradition. After all, he was raised in Spanish Harlem on East 103rd Street. No matter, actually, great performer and person.

Growing up in the streets of New York in the 50s and 60s, was in a gang, got involved into crime, got arrested etc. After he was released from prison, he changed his life around.

This is AMAZING I didn't know that Joe Bataan was 1/2 Filipino and 1/2 Afro-american I always thought he was Afro-Cuban . I was a young kid when his music was "popping". I too am half Filipino and half Kazakh-Mongol .
