President Joe Biden is expected to address graduating cadets during West Point’s commencement ceremony.
Biden will speak to about 1,000 cadets graduating from the U.S. Military Academy on Saturday, according to Reuters.
It will be his first time delivering the commencement speech as president. Biden previously delivered the commencement speech at West Point twice while he was vice president.
Biden will continue to make appearances throughout the holiday weekend. He is expected to participate in the Memorial Day services at Arlington National Cemetery on Monday, according to Reuters.
Vice President Kamala Harris made history as the first woman to deliver a commencement speech at West Point last year.
Former President Donald Trump was the last president to speak at West Point’s commencement in 2020.
West Point was established in 1802, according to the academy’s website, and is considered the nation’s first military academy. Notable graduates of the academy include Gen. Douglas MacArthur, Gen. George Patton and former Presidents Ulysses S. Grant and Dwight D. Eisenhower

I cannot believe that West Point chose Biden to be their commencement speaker. That really says a lot about West Point and what they stand for. I no longer think of West Point the way I used to.

The commencement speakers rotate between the president, the vice president, the secretary of defense, and the chairman of the joint chiefs of staff between each of the service academies. And if you don't think that West Point and the U.S. Army should support the Commander in Chief, you should seriously reconsider how your political views align with your belief in our nation. What a very sad moment in history. This man, that is supposed to be our president, that is supposed to truly be proud of all these young people. A man that is supposed to lead our country the best he could to make it better, that is supposed to love our country.😢 How many students are here? How many parents, and family? They don't have to speak, their applause speaks for itself. We the true and real Patriots of the United States are proud of you, and stand behind you.
