Gary Moseley he had a great prototype made for him. With that said it's hilarious that he doesn't use it at all. That guitar was the feature of the 1st royal Albert hall show. I believe this is the guitar he uses on the great flood in that show. I understand the allure of 59 les Paul's but when you have a guitar made for you, not using is just odd. I wholeheartedly agree with you that he will regret selling this. It's just so odd that he doesn't use his signature model at all.

For some reason I've resisted applauding Joe's accomplishments for years. After seeing him play as a child I expected him to eventually burn out and become a pipe fitter or mechanic leaving music behind as many applauded by stars do. But he stayed with it and invested the time, effort and work it took to become what he is today. To see him contribute to those around him, to speak to the public as a modest human being, yet continue working to advance his skills is overwhelming. His modesty, consideration for others, and his contributions to family, friends, and people in general is a most unexpected gift to all of us. Given what I've seen Joe's welcome at my table as long as I remain living.

Nah. He's gotta be better than Buckethead before he can take that title and he's not even better than Bucket. Buckethead can and does play about 25 different genres of music, all just as well as any of them. Blues, jazz, rock, metal, country, avant garde, whatever. Bucket does it all. Joe doesn't. That alone makes him not the best. Same reason why Duane Allman is better than Jimi. Duane could put down way more than Jimi. He was the more well-rounded player and was better than Jimi, too. He didn't need all the gimmicks like Jimi, either. Just look at the difference in their shows. You went to an Allman Brothers Band concert to HEAR the music. To FEEL the music. You went to a Hendrix concert to see Jimi do all the gimmicks. Joe may be one of the best blues guitarists of his generation. I can get on with that. But overall? Not a chance. And I'm no Joe B hater. I love Joe's music and Joe, too. He's a real a** dude. But he's not the best guitarist of his generation.

When I was in a band back in 1981, I had a Gibson Les Paul gold top with Humbuckers. The guitar was sweet. It wailed! I believe it was a 1978. Thing is, I am Strat man. I've always played a Fender Stratocaster. Its so light compared to The Les Paul. Especially when your playing it on stage for just about 3-4 hours. I didnt have much money at the time or I would've kept it instead of trading it in. Thats what I did. I traded it in for a 1979 Black Fender Strat with a Maple neck. And playing through a Fender Twin Reverb! S W E E T ! 🧡

These things are rare...and really hard to find info on this initial 300 batch run. one sold on Ebay for 5,000 recently. But I recommend anyone interested in a great Custom Shop LP, keep an eye out, because you might find one for a great deal like I did (the shop who sold it to me didn't know what they had and was selling as a 2012...and I knew something was up when I got it, cause it wasn't like the 2012's I had already played and def a Great guitar. It took a while to do some research and finally had to call Gibson to identify). Hope someone else out there gets lucky too.

Super cool to see a comment from a true guitar legend like you Arlen. I've enjoyed your articles and instructional materials over the years. When I saw Arlen Roth I was like "I know that name", any guitar fanatic should know it and research.

While I don't subscribe to his style of playing necessarily Joe seems like a great guy with a good heart and very personable. Nice to see people like that in the industry!

I'd like to know exactly what he meant at 6:44 when they discuss the Mono-bird and then Joe says, "Sorry about those". It sounds like he was not happy with endorsing that model but then he quickly backs away from that when Norm says "I like them" and then Joe counters with "I like them too". So which is it? But about that proto-type, I don't see how he could let that guitar go. I've hung onto guitars for sentimental reasons that are dog crap compared to that Joe B prototype.

maybe its one of those guitars that some people really like but everyone for the most part hates. i mean, everyone i know thinks the gibson corvus looks like shit, and i love it. everyone i know also likes strats but i really dislike the body shape. i know a bunch of people that dont like some of the crazy hair metal guitars that were one offs of limited editions or boutique guitars but i like alot of them. if it was real(it might be idk) id totally get that one shark guitar from the one guitar hero game. along with the tiki guitar from the same game. some people just like odd stuff. so it could be as simple as that.

GAS Man I think it's the Bonabyrd. It's basically a Les Paul with a Firebird neck (or at least headstock). I suspect he's probably apologising because he's had people complain/criticise about messing up a traditional Les Paul appearance and Spec! :P As it was clearly associated with him and one of his own signature guitars from the Gibson Custom Shop I'm pretty sure he's not trying to suggest that he dislikes them!!

I need to do a deep dive into his catalog. I keep seeing people bash him for being a "Blooz" guy. But I can't hate the guy. He seems like a real genuine person in EVERY single video I've ever seen him in. I'm a fan of the man, now I need to check out his music.
