Actually the amp that Joe plugged that Strat into was actually a brand new Fender 64’ Custom Deluxe Reverb. It sounds like a vintage amp even though it’s brand new when Mark was the guitar of the day host he first used a Fender Hot Rod Deville 4x10 and sometimes a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe 1x12. But he would always use an overdrive pedal all the time. Then he used a 65’ Deluxe Reverb and before he left Norman’s to go to Gibson he used the ‘64 custom Deluxe Reverb which you hear on this video.

Once you get used to it though, making super quick volume adjustments on the fly to go from just barely breaking up Hendrixian chording to screaming fuzz lead tone with just a quick move of the pinky. Then I go to a Les Paul and it’s like, omfg I gotta move my entire hand away from the picking area just to do a quick volume adjustment! Pain in the ass.

How can you possibly enjoy playing guitar or shopping for one if this is the way your mind works. What a drag it must be to scan any persons entire body/wardrobe to find out how they may possibly be “damaging” a guitar. Scratches/dents/ etc do not instantly appear on a guitar at the slightest touch of something. You ever bought a new guitar? Went home and played it. Did it instantly have scratches and dents on it? The fucking guitar is from the 50s for Christ sakes. You gonna track down every person who’s played it over the years and see what jewelry or belts they wore and bitch about them scratching it. Every note Joe is playing here is “wearing down” the frets. Why not bitch about that too.
