I'll never forget being part of an 80 man barbershop chorus getting to sing the national anthem at Busch stadium before a Cardinal's game. We were all standing in the bowels of the stadium waiting to go onto the field when Jack Buck walked by. He stopped and looked at us and asked what group we were. When we told him we were a barbershop chorus he looked at us and said, "I hate barbershop singing." Not all stories about the guy are good.

I use to think stories like this were bullshit until I had a similar experience with my father, he suffered a heart attack was resuscitated and taken to the hospital. After a few days the doctors said he had no brain activity so he was essentially brain dead, after a few days I made the tough decision to disconnect everything from him but I did visit him told him I loved him held his hand but I was the only family member who did that, my mom and brother didn't want to visit because they figured it would be to hard to see him in that condition. Needless to say he lasted 10 days on his own, eventually the Hospital called me and recommended Hospice care. Which is care at home for a loved one whos going to die, so they take him to my moms home and this time obviously my mother and brother visit him talk to him spend time with him, even his only two granddaughters visit and say their goodbyes. All of this happened in one evening and by 6 A.M. the next morning he passed away..............

You will never be one half the announcer your dad was Joey but you got all the perks that he deserved. I grew up in central IL and heard Harry and your dad every summer night as a boy. They knew how to make a ballgame come to life over a radio. You and your old padnah (sic) McCarver made it excruciatingly painful to watch the Redbirds in the postseason. Remember, no matter how rich you are, you'll never be able to hold your dad's mic stand.
